So the over $400 million dollars cash annually ( and goes up each year) from TV and STV ( media only) that Abdo said was correct.
With AFL getting $420, close enough.
So not a bad result, very close to the AFL for 2023 and 2024. We have got a upside with internationals and while we at it a decent Nines International competition with teams form around the world could be a extra money spinner, also Vegas could pay off handsomely....It's on the up and up.

The NRL is already the highest paid football code per minute of play in the country and by some distance.

Yet all you hear from people is how PVL botched the deal, clueless.

Now consider this, the NRL deal was done when the AFL and NRL competition head to head on tele was in the AFL favor.

That has changed in recent years.

-We will have an extra game to sell

-The pacific Tournament

-NRLW with the best exposure on tele out of any code and highest ratings women competition.

-The highest rating men's competition in the country

-Warriors resurgence, (Current NZ deal worth about 30m a year)

The next NRL deal will be a game changer for the code.

Where do you get $400mill cash from? All we know is licensing was $485mill. This includes wagering, radio, merch royalty and digital revenue. This revenue line went up $76mill on previous year. How much was just TV we cant say..
Contra was $34.1mill, up from $24.5 mill previous year.
We know Ch9 is paying $5mil extra contra so the Sky NZ and Fox deal must include $14.6mill extra contra.

the last ref point we have for those other areas was in 2019.
Merch $12mill
Digital $24mill

radio is around $10mill
wagering has been talked about as worth $50-60mill

Even going on zero growth in last 5 years that is around $100mill cash in that $485mill licensing line. Which takes it to where I was suggesting it would be for tv alone. $380-$390mill.

AFL announced Media (tv and radio & Telstra) as $444.2mil cash ($48mill cash up from previous year) & $16mill contra

He botched the deal! We are talking 2025 when the big AFL tv deal kicks in. We will still have 3 years running on ours at that point and the gap will be huge. Sure we will no doubt recover some lost ground in 2028 as long as he doesnt f**k that one up as well!

Just accept it , the NRL media ie TV Pay Tv NZ tv etc pay over $400 million dollars as said by Abdo.

"
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo thanked media partners, sponsors and fans for their support and described 2021 as "an incredibly strong year for the growth of our game".
"Revenues returned to over $550 million and we have secured long term broadcast agreements which will see broadcast investment increase to over $400 million a year from 2023," Abdo said."

2018-2022? no. not cash. It was announced as $380mill whihc inc $24mill contra. So an avg of $356mill a year.

Which is another reason $400mill cash for 23> doesnt add up.
We know Sky NZ paid $12mill extra cash and contra. Fox allegedly $20mill for Dolphins. So $32mill with some contra + $356mill = $388mill
Theres an extra $9.6mill contra of which ch9 paid $5mill.

So where did the other $12mill plus a year cash come from?

Now we can see contra is $34mil a year it would mean the deal, if $400mill cash, was actually $2.17bill. You think NRL wouldnt have mentioned that??

Do the maths:
2023 Licensing revenue= $488mill

merch $12mill+
Digital $24mill+
Wagering $50mill+
Radio $10mill

= at least $100mill

leaves $388mill for tv

Here we go ...it has to cash as it is revenue.. Contra on page 77 of the 2023 report has Contra down as a expense.
Sure it has other license fees up to total of $485, however Abdo didn't say merch fees gambling fees ect, HE SAID BROADCAST REVENUE of over $400 million dollars.

Again do the maths. $488mill 'licensing' revenue.
$100mill+ other revenue in that line.
Leaves around $388mill tv only max.

which totally tallies with last cash tv deal of $346mill + $20mill from fox and $12mill (inc contra) from SkyNZ.

Pretty confident this years TV only cash deal was in the range of $380-385mill based on what we can see.
As I predicted.

It was clear in the original press that this year was $400m. In which case it will grow to roughly $450m by the end.

The usual whingers didn't like it and made their own narrative

Its clear in the financial report it isnt lol.
Or do you think weve had a reduction in the last 5 years on those other 'licensing' revenue areas?

$380-385mill cash
$34mill contra

that's what the reality for 2023 is.

And guess what if this years cash payment is $383mill then it means over the course of 5 years with the 2% indexation they add in accounting now the tv deal AVG is $400mill cash. Not like I havent been telling you this Iamback!

Because the deal is growing still, We have mentioned the exclusive NRLW Origin.
Panthers want to have an NRLW team to go with the new Stadium in 2025

All new content which sees money, in which case the total is still changing.

This part of the original article, Clearly says over $400m.

Where they announce ch9 the include that is the contra amount. IF $400m was including contra that part isn't needed
