The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

seems like crowds have jumped from just about 15k average to over 18k in 1 year
Though it is probably over 4 years given 3 covid affected years
I would have thought crowds would have taken a hit this year with cost of living pressures - but maybe going to the footy is a cheaper experience and people cut back on other things
Quality of the football has been outstanding but the trend started in round 1 so you are probably right.

I suspect its a lot of memberships being purchased too , 3 & 6 gamers for very good value
, altho until ALL clubs release their numbers we will never know for sure.
yeah - think more memberships and members turning up. If you paid the money you are going to go
Surprised that a game like Parra v Dogs yesterday got 30k+ which I assume is mainly due to Parra fans paying for one off tickets

Plus there was no deal for Parramatta members either , which I think will be the next thing clubs need to be smarter about
Parramatta wouldn't of been able to offer a reciprocal arrangement with the dogs because their home ground isn't big enough to accommodate the numb of dogs members that might take up the offer

But theres nothing stopping the dogs offering eels members half price tickets to Accor when they play there anyway , its a big venue , plenty of room & very close to Parramatta
might of cleared 40K with a deal yesterday & would clear 50K with both teams doing better

What an atmosphere down at Bruce shame it’s a bit far out in the sticks but that goes to show how good the support is down at Canberra. It was great that they were running buses from civic made it very easy to get to and from.
the good and bad thing about crowds is the perception, when they were trending down the perception was it’s not popular so casuals wouldn’t go as much. but now with many games having a solid capacity there’s a sense of fomo, fans of even lower teams wanna get out and show support and be there. Lots of upsets as well, no guarantees with most games.

I've emailed him about it and he won't fix it. He's always done double/triple headers as the final figure divided by games played. Then he changed it

I think his is the right way to do it.

We arent talking about revenue from tickets, we are talking about butts on seats to watch a given game.

Double Headers have huge potential in Sydney to boost attendance for the “dull”games. Talking that down, even here, is just dumb.

I havnt been following this thread so apologies if I'm off the mark .... but is it just my imagination or are crowds significantly larger this season ?

Nearly every game I've seen have had near capacity crowds...even teams near the bottom of the ladder.

Is there any reason for this boom ? Are tickets cheaper? Do you no longer need a morgage to buy a beer and meat pie ? Is it because more games are being played in suburban grounds?

It's just the quality of the games.
And no the food and beer is a major rip off.

New club has created a lot of buzz. Amazing the comp takes steps to grow and expand and more people start showing interest. No one wants to follow a competition that is stagnant and struggling to grow i.e. A League

The new SFS is easily the best stadium i have ever visited (Ive lived in China, SE Asia and Europe)

I love the open view from the bar and the atmosphere you get in that area because of it.

it has the vibe of the grass hill with the benefit of decent facilities

How's the bus service to the new joint? Don't want them getting lost on the way.

I went to the new SFS for the first time last week. Parking was piss, the view from all parts was great, I could take a slash in peace and the atmosphere was great.

Two thumbs up from Fangs.

I think this is a big part of it.

Less than 200 tickets in the lower bowl at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Not a huge amount of capacity left in the upper bowl, though I think the NRL has held off opening the back 10 or so rows from on-sale.

I feel like it's going to beat the Parramatta crowd.
