The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

The Roosters / Dragons prices for ANZAC Day are also pretty...greedy.

Sure it's ANZAC Day, and that game is consistently the biggest crowd-puller of the year in Sydney, but the Dragons have been sub-par for the better part of a decade, making only two finals series with the last 5 years ago...and despite a good start to the season this year, it would be a brave punter who puts them in with a shot of the top 8 this year.

I guess Allianz 2.0 will be a big factor for Dragons fans who haven't yet had the chance to attend a game. Anything less than a sellout crowd over 40,000 will be a big disappointment.

---

I'm interested to see what sort of crowds attend the Easter weekend games in Sydney this year.

If the Rabbitohs can retain a top 8 place and the Bulldogs continue their upwards trajectory, I can see the Good Friday clash drawing over 35,000 for the first time since 2017.

The Tigers and Eels have had a bad start to the year, and the Eels have a really tough run through to Easter, so at this rate I'm not convinced the Easter Monday clash will draw more than 30,000 (and the game has only done so once since 2017). If the Tigers don't improve throughout the year, they should be stripped of this game and replaced with another Sydney club to face the Eels on Easter Monday.
Yeh if the dogs do well they are one that can get massive crowds not just the Easter games

shame south’s never got to move to Allianz they would average over 25k easy

Homebush is terrible. When the Tigers host the Easter Monday clash it should be at SFS and so should the Dogs/South’s Good Friday game.

Thats just what the NRL need if a Sydney FC v WSW gets a bigger crowds then Roosters v Rabbitohs.
need it ?
why

well over a million people will watch the NRL game on TV including 400K odd in Sydney
while the sooker game .... about as many as the attendance , 30K hahahaha

there is no comparison here ..

I agree but I just hope the NRL game gets more people at the ground the Suckka as if they don't the Ass League fans be bagging that A-League is bigger then NRL plus remember not that long ago the whole hype of West Sydney Wankers saying they were bigger then the Eels.

let em shout from the hill tops , then we will draw their attention to the 1408 people who attended an Aye league game last weekend & overall interest in the comp in 2023 being at NSL levels

A bit disappointing to see. The ticket prices will be the primary reason the Roosters vs Rabbitohs doesn't sell out...especially with the current cost of living pressures + the weather looks like it won't be an issue.

That said, ticket sales appear to be trending up this week and 35,000 is starting to look like it might be at the lower end of the spectrum if the uptick continues through to game day.

Sydney FC plays Western Sydney Wanderers the next day at Allianz, it'd be nice to see a bit of friendly competition to get the better crowd (the Sydney Derby is also trending to a crowd "well over 30,000").
If the game gets 35k which it looks like it will then the roosters are vindicated in their prices.

I have no problem with them charging what they can for Souths and ANZAC games which they see as their premium events. If they can get 35-40k consistently at those prices then why shouldn't they?

What they should do though is use that revenue to subsidise some of the other games on the schedule with 2 for 1 deals, kids free entry etc. The Raiders Sunday night game in June would be a perfect opportunity.

Sydney FC is averaging 17k

Taking out the obvious outlier of their game against WSW, it is still 15k which is the best indicator we have so far that the new SFS is going to sustain good crowds.

Anzac Day sell out, south’s close to 40k

even if the rest are 15k it’s going to end up probably in the 20k plus

50 bucks is decent for category one other than obviously Anzac Day and south’s
Yep it definitely is. $90 is a bit steep for a regular game but I parted with the money anyway.

We've got our Indigenous Round game against the Eels at Allianz on Friday 19 May so that would be a good guide on where fans prefer to watch games. Pre-sales to members went on sale yesterday and 3 of the 9 ticket categories appear to show "Allocation Exhausted" already. Who knows if they were just the pre-sale allocation or the full allocation though.

There is surprisingly not many bays left for sale in the grandstands for the Raiders v Sharks match. In the Mal Meninga upper, only 4 out of the 20 bays have tickets on sale, and just 1 in the lower.

In the Gregan-Larkham side, there are 8 in the upper and 3 in the lower, but all towards the ends of the grounds.

Cowboys v Warriors is looking good. Lower Bowl is down to single seats, except in Bay 122. In the Upper Bays, availability is limited to the back of the bays. May go close to what the Cowboys got against the Raiders, but should at least be 17K+

Knights v Phins is selling strongly. with large chunks of seats gone across both grandstands in both the upper and lower.

Yea, they're not honouring the Junior players passes etc which doesn't happen often but means the crowd based on sales is expected to be above 20,000.

That's huge if they're on track for that. It's neither the most ideal time slot and I thought the two losses (although the team was competitive in both matches) may have hurt the opening crowd.

Bulldogs v Tigers game showing as sold out? or just an error on Ticketek?
Bulldogs faithful are out in force following the win over the Storm. How many does Belmore hold these days? I know they named 19,000 back in 2015 for the Sharks match, but can we expect a similar number this weekend?
