The Game 2023 Crowd Watch

Great crowds across the board!!

Allianz 2.0 is clearly a success.

9 regular season NRL games at the venue in its first year for an average attendance of 23,841, compared with 11 regular season NRL games at Allianz 1.0 in its last year (2018) for an average attendance of 15,682. That's an increase of 8,159 or 52% in crowds, despite the Roosters struggling to finish 2023 in the top 8 (vs finishing 2018 with the Minor Premiership).

Roosters finish the regular season with averages of:

All Home games: 22,898 (including Magic, 12 games)
Home games at Allianz: 23,392 (8 games)
Home games at SCG: 12,109 (2 games)
Home games in Sydney: 21,135 (10 games)
Home game at Gosford: 18,338 (1 games)
Home games in NSW: 20,881 (11 games)
Roosters should do half West Tigers and St.Steelers and just play out of Allianz and for low drawing games play the other half at the Central Coast.

Even with 15K, the new Allianz has a decent atmosphere and looks good on TV, as such, I'd want the Roosters to play no less than 9 games at year at Moore Park.

Despite the crap the club gets around supporters, there are a lot of young Roosters fans out there, especially after being quite successful over the past couple of decades (8 Grand Finals in 20 seasons between 2000 - 2019), and having the new stadium is a good opportunity for the club to try and activate that supporter base and get them use to going to Allianz.

Listening to the crowd during that game you could hear a lot of cheering for the Cowboys so I suspect that a lot of local neutrals turned up to witness two Qld teams going at it.. Another advantage of the extra Qld team.

Doubt there was many neutrals attending but there was shitload of NQ fans, IMO probably 7-8k of the crowd were wearing Cowbs merch.

There is a lot of us NQers living in SEQ purely for work opportunities. The Cowboys chant that went up a few times was pretty loud.

Need good weather to continue, hopefully it does
We're heading into El Nino, so rain is likely to be very minimal over the next couple of seasons at least and winter is likely to be above average warm.

Terrible news for farmers, environment, etc, but perfect weather for growing crowds to a winter sport.

Makes up for the wet last few seasons we have had

That's a really good crowd at a shit ground with nothing to play for.

I think half of them were Soup's family.

Pax is a load of bollox that determines how many tickets have been sold, so why are we so infatuated with this method?
The reason, I was at today's Dogs game and the pax was above 30k but only 13k turned up hmmmm
