My worry is that when Crossland is playing big minutes, he’s likely to be making sloppy mistakes. I think it was the game against dolphins where he threw a number of bad passes when we were attacking their line late in the game and the game was up for grabs- Hastings gave him a gobful.

Yeah Crossland and Mann are fine in 20 minute spurts. Over the 80 we will see them come up with some negative plays, I'm sure of it.

I just hope the club is being pro-active with this and seeking a genuine option and not having too much pride and saying Crossland and Mann can handle it between them.

Heck, there's no guarantees Crossland or Mann survive the season either. Mann already looks busted.

Crossland to me just doesn’t have the eyes up ability or distribution to play dummy half at a decent level. I think his best position is as a linking 5/8th where he’s playing well before the line.

No disrespect to him and it’s always sad when players get injured, but if you’re going to lose a guy out of the top 20 or so players, he’s the one…

Kurt Mann suffered an injury in the early stages of last round's match against the Parramatta Eels. Scans have confirmed a torn oblique muscle. With the bye falling this week, Kurt will commence rehab, with a return to play date yet to be confirmed.

Brodie Jones continues to progress through his return to performance program with the goal of re-integration to team skills following the bye.

Adam Elliott has commenced unrestricted training and will push for selection in coming weeks.

Physio here. Torn oblique is such a variable recovery. He could be OK for next game or out for a couple of months depending on the severity of it.

Who relieves Crossland if he does need extended time out? If this doesn’t further highlight how badly we need to be looking for a specialist hooker I don’t know what will.

It's impossible to imagine we're not chasing a hooker right now. Unfathomable. We're 2 down with an absolute turkey left standing.

Surely we are 110% looking for a proper hooker. Surely no professional organization can be that negligent???

Do parra have a hooker we would be interested in…..a few weeks ago they were after a strike backline player…..would release young early if we could get a decent hooker

Opportunity to try Gamble at Hooker.

I would for sure trade Young for the rest of the year for a crack at a decent hooker right now. We have blokes who can do a job on the wing and not look like idiots. We don't have a hooker like that.

Gamble was a gun for us at six... Please don't ruin another good player Newcastle Knights!
These are my thoughts. I'm over the utility band-aid fixes... Just get me a real #9 here, especially if he doesn't know how to play any other position.

Club should consider sending Dom back to Huddersfield for the rest of the year and get Will early as a trade. Both are not gong to be at their current clubs anyway in 2024. Won’t fix the hooker issue but he has more ability in his little toe than our current options combined.

Then what's the point?

If they had a specialist hooker we could trade Dom for I'd be more inclined
