2023 Knights Injuries and Suspensions

Calm is required here. When he was taken off we put the nails in the Warriors coffin. This side responds differently now. Brailey was not the lone catalyst for the form we are in. Hastings does not require world class distribution to be the player he is. His footy IQ is elite. This scenario would have been very much anticipated as a chance in the off season. Adam Elliott can play 9 did a great job for the Raiders where required.
We have 2 spots still free on our roster and Eliott is still an unknown on a return date

Would be wise management to look for another NRL quality hooker

We've had him on the field literally 1 year in 4 now. You'd be lucky to need both hands to count the games he's played outside of the 2021 season. Tenacious player, but we've gotta move on at this stage surely. It's a really sad situation, because he's talented and has a go... but yeah. I think we've arrived at the crossroads with him now.

Yeah if we won't give up on Crossland, no way will we give up on our co-captain. I wish he'd stay healthy and I like the guy but as perverse pointed out, we haven't got our money's worth out of him.

Well for the last six months everyone with half a brain has been saying that the knights are basically gambling on Brailey staying fit, or the season is forfeited. And here we are.

So, probably.
Yeah. True enough. It's not like no-one saw this one coming. *sigh*

Best to hit up Ikin about loaning Mozer for a year ala what Tigers and Storm did with Grant.
He’s a creative little dummy half learning his craft in QLD Cup and he won’t see first grade this year unless both Walters and Paix goes down.

Unfortunately we've arrived at the Crosslands instead.

Of course it's worst case scenario typical knights, It's also typical knights not having a proper backup #9 despite everyone knowing there was a big chance Brailey would get hurt and miss time again

Have to look at other options & moving Jayden on for all his good doesn't matter if he can't stay on the field, the best ability is availability.

You are all dreaming if you think we can just
Move Jayden on or retire him.
Well regardless of this or not, we need another first grade capable hooker in the squad if he's going to keep AOB company in the coaches box for the majority of his career.

This is where it would have been really nice to have some young #9 pushing his claims and getting his opportunity. Instead we'll be regurgitating Crossland and Mann.

I think the season is too long to be splitting it between Mann and Crossland. We definitely need to seek a genuine option. I also don't think Elliott is the answer for the remainder of the year.

I don't think we'll look for a 9 with Mann and Crossland there.
Read an article from a few years back where Mann was trying to be a 9. Crossland has filled in there.

If Mann was/is trying to be a 9 for a few years and can’t get in front of Crosslands then most definitely we need to find someone.
Did Mann try to be a 9 seeing an opportunity due to our constant injuries to specialist 9’s

100%, none of those guys have good distribution, Mann is fine as a runner, Crossland is a decent defender and Elliot can fill in but the way we’re playing with Hastings running the show and KP back we really need a good distributor above anything else.
I think someone left field would be Tyson Smoothy who was the 2022 Qld cup hooker of the year and is only 23 and contracted to the broncos on a development deal but stuck behind Walters, Paix and Mozer so getting a release would not be too difficult.
