Fancy Annersley making a song and dance about the repercussions of a high tackle after letting Luai off Scott free.

He should have said "there will be consequences, for some"
It appears that (rightly or wrongly), the following applies;
- Try and tackle hard and get it wrong = big ban
- Tackle illegally (even deliberate) but do little damage = no ban

That's exactly it. It's all about how "dramatic" the incident looks, which suggests strongly it's all about public image to the NRL, which is not surprising in the slightest when you have clowns like Annersley and Abdo at the helm.

Every player that cops even a glancing hit to their head needs to start staying down and putting on their best Academy Award winning performances, whether they get dragged for the HIA or not. How farcical the whole thing is will become 100% apparent to everyone in a real hurry.

When it gets to the point when the Burgess hit is treated the same way as the Brown hit, you know things have gotten beyond ridiculous.

You're right, it's wrong.
I think there’s a halfway house - but ultimately, whilst it’s difficult to ‘prove’, the biggest factor should be around intent and recklessness.

Intentional (should be send off as standard) - Luai example or deliberate hip drops etc; should receive the highest of bans (4 weeks plus), regardless of injury outcome.

Reckless (send off as standard) - Nathan Brown/Val Holmes type incident, where they’ve shot out of line/left their feet, should receive higher end of ban (3 to 4 weeks) as standard, am comfortable can be increased further if caused injury

Careless (potential for sin-bin dependent on severity) - eg Mo F (trying to effect a standard tackle, but hit high due to late movement of attacker) lower end of bans, again comfortable that any injury could be a mitigating factor in fine/ban outcome

The big problem is that we’ve made the whole MRC/Disciplinary process a legal beast with solicitors etc involved. As such, they bottle making a call on ‘intent’, but to anyone with any sort of knowledge of the game (and an independent view), it’s fairly obvious in most occasions.

I've noticed if the victim is a big, tough guy they often don't even give a penalty.

f**k off idiot, half the big tough guys get off? JWH, NAS get away with murder..especially NAS. It's inconsistency you halfwit
NAS and JWH do worse than the Burgees tackle every other week 3 weeks for that is baffling. Laui and Fitzgibbon full intent with dangerous actions that the NRL is trying to stamp out and just fine.

Here's another one. Repeat offender with list of crimes as long as your arm and gets a fine. I don't understand why 3rd+ offence for any sort of dangerous action (dangerous contact, high tackle, shoulder charge etc.) isn't an automatic minimum 1 week on the sidelines.
