He’s not even the form fullback at his club
The Dragons should be getting on to Manu's mgmt and letting them know the fullback spot is his, they'll pay whatever he wants now that Hunt wants out (I'm sure Dragons would let Hunt walk if they could bring Joseph Manu in to their side)... Get Manu agitating for a release from the Roosters. I reckon you'd see the Roosters moving Teddy aside pretty quick after that...

Then the Dragons can get Tedesco! Smart move by the red V getting the incumbent NSW fullback. @Pumpkin approves.

Is Origin mandatory for those selected? Can players reject their selection? Maybe some players will insist their club is now first priority over a dead rubber.
This kind of thinking epitomises why NSW gets done like a dog’s dinner more often than not.

NSW should go back to the drawing board, maybe even hire an overhead projector. The coach can’t have any skin in the current NRL coaching game. I feel that they should take the rubber off and impregnate the Blues team with stars of tomorrow.

Tbh, if NSW were halfway serious - let's be real, here - Gutherson would have been on the side from game I.

Queensland "gets" Origin - but despite the raw talent they have, they simply rely on players who go out there, and give 100% for 80 minutes.

Gutherson will do that.

But time, and time again, we choose blokes who are past it, blokes playing out of position who are as resilient as a ladybug, and blokes playing out of position who make three runs per game, because after swallowing a fridge for breakfast, that's all they can muster.

Are these players who "get" Origin? I say no.

If we lost 5-6 players to a genuine Origin side, I’d have no problem having to throw a baby Eels side at the Warriors. But Fittler is on Mad Monday, half the players don’t deserve selection and it’s just as likely the new coach goes in new direction. Even if our players warrant selection, they’re being thrown in a game designed for them not to gain anything.

People laugh about front loading and collision chasing on here but it’s 100% what Origin is built on. Lindsay Collins busting gut to pressure Tedesco on a bomb that leads to the try that clinches game 1. That’s putting in the effort with no guarantee of reward (front loading) just in case there is a chance and then once that chance is available being mentally prepared to try for it with no regard to an inretrievable negative outcome (chasing the collision).

Hence why NSW should have punted Freddy and used game three as an opportunity to plan for the future with the new coach and player direction >2024 and beyond.

Who the f**k knows what the mungbean eating space cadet Fittler will do. He might end up picking a handful of Eels just to troll us so we lose V the Warriors to help the Roosters cause to make the 8...

What coach in their right mind is gonna take on a guaranteed lost series?

Why would you wanna be part of that?

Why not? Let’s give Freddy another shot then punt him regardless. NSW is reactive, not proactive. Always has been.

There's nothing to be gained from it, that's why not.

Anyone who comes in to replace him is on a hiding to nothing, there's not enough time to take the squad in a different direction in any meaningful way, and they lose having made wholesale changes it just looks even worse.

Let Freddy lie in the bed he made, sack his arse win lose or draw, I wouldn't be against publicly announcing this is his last game in charge.

Then the new bloke has basically a year to get his shit together and work out where to go moving forward, get the right blokes in to help, and f**k off the loosers who all stink of loosing.

QLD win in 2024. Nothing surer.

They really need to make that announcement quite soon - anytime in the next 3 weeks, or within 2 weeks after Game 3 is done.
