Cowboys crowd average is roughly 10% of Townsville’s population, pound for pound better than everyone, even Newcastle.

Dragons could be playing their Sydney games at a newer stadium if they wanted to. Kogarah is in better knick than most suburban grounds anyway.

Fine weather, Saturday evening, 1-1 record, first game of the year in Sydney. It was a shit crowd, you don’t have to defend it.
Penrith’s population is around 220k and averages 20k per game, pretty close to your 10%!

Weatherzone is now forecasting a 40% chance of rain in Brisbane on Friday. A bit far out so probably doesn't mean much however with a cracking day we really could actually see 46-48k in Brisbane.

We will be reliant on Stadium members who will most likely let us down because they are largely corporates who go to games on Friday nights before heading home. Given it's a public holiday, they might be out for the long weekend.

I've checked how many seats are held back for new memberships and it looks like about 200 max. Can't see how many are held for sponsors. Maybe 70-100 single seats left and mostly in the $149 a seat areas.

Anyway, the largest crowd we've had with GA areas is 47,703 (vs Cowboys round 2 2017) and with good weather I think close is possible.

Rain = 43-44k.

Team coming off a 40 point drubbing and years of underperformance

you think if it’s at allianz the crowd will be much more ?

cowboys brought zero fans or close too much like titans at belmore

why are you referencing the Townsville pop?

I thought they were more than Townsville lmao

It really is that simple, GC and NQ in particular draw poorly in Sydney. Do you put 12k in an 83k seater or in a 17k Suburban Stadium?

WT games at Parra draw poorly and Sharks fans have to travel further
True. I can appreciate the Tigers and Dogs using the generally low drawing games to fill their suburban stadium fixtures. Both Dogs and Tigers games yesterday pull significantly less at Homebush or Parramatta.

Also, to those who complain that they want to sit on a seat not stand on the hill, it might shock you that Leichhardt and Belmore both have seated sections.

Our crowd average at Homebush is bigger than LO or Campbo. This move should have been made not long after 2005.

1-1 record with new premiership winning coach. First Sydney game of the year, fine weather, nice timeslot.

Nope not by much if any but you’re the one who brought new stadiums in to it.

Sydney clubs bring zero fans or close to it to Townsville.

Because you’re saying their crowds of 10% of the immediate population are poor. That would be like saying Newcastle averaging 40k+ is poor.

Sure, if you want to include Cairns to Mackay throw in the population within a 400km radius of every other team and Cowboys pull even further ahead in “pound for pound” crowds.

The Cowboys are consistent too. During there bad years they still pull a decent crowd.
Jubilee is a rubbish stadium though.
Hopefully they get more at the gong.

Quietly hopeful for the Wollongong game. Assuming Easter weekend there is like every other Coastal Town/City there’s probably a lot of out of towners around for the weekend, Saturday night and first Gong game for the year. They at least showed some promise in the Cowboys loss, started strong and finished OK when 50 looked a certainty.

The dragons need to be playing home games consistently at WIN stadium to build up a presence and rapport with the Wollongong public with maybe the home game against souths played at kogarah or alliance stadium.

I think the connection is definitely there mate, what is missing though is the consistency in winning, get that and it`ll be standing room only.

Yes and no. TV dictates TNF and we have a PH the next day.

Friday 6pm is a gimme.

I shouldn't think it would matter as long as Ch9 still had the same amount of games.

3 games Friday on FTA surely is better for both parties?

Really is dumb that in a 4 day weekend, a game is scheduled where fans need to commute to after work

While I agree the crowd was shit, Shit crowds are going to happen. Not every team will be good and not every opposition team will bring 5k fans.

The key is to not lose ground on those fixtures ( which all seem on par with last time)

And get more event games, Like Dragons used to play on June long weekend. That and when they host ANZAC day builds up their average

Accor shouldn't be a club venue full stop, No one was locked out so that is what these grounds are perfect for.

Homebush tends to get the bigger games. That will likely had a role to play. LO and CS gets the lower drawing out of town teams.
Thats true to an extent, but people were still going in large numbers. If those games were at the suburban grounds then we wood have locked people out. That's not good business .

They are never there, They send the shit games down there.

They do have more better timeslot and Quality there this year. Hopefully that helps them improve crowds there

But Warriors at 6pm on a Friday night
Titans down there will struggle

Dragons play 12 games in Sydney this year, 6 home, 6 away. When you think of it that way an even home game split does favour the Sydney side of it more.
