i'd swap Gagai in for Gapewell.

Gagai is a specialist three quarter. Capewell is a backrower who can also play centre. As such, for a bench spot, Capewell provides Qld greater versatility. If you left out Capewell for Gagai in your 17, you'd wind up with a hooker, a back, and only two forwards on your bench. Not a wise strategy in my book.

Capewell got absolutely torched in the centres in the 2021 series. He is even slower now, the only way it works is if Nanai moves to the centres (where I actually think he could play full time) and have Capewell in the back row.

That was more so because of the coach choosing the wrong players to be in the centres when those injuries occurred (e.g. Hynes and Cook, a specialist half and a specialist hooker respectively).

Seems a strange selection, he had rib cartilage injury earlier in the year and hasn’t been playing well. Had a bit of a rest, due to the injury but hasn’t played much this season
