Almost drowning for the cause. Don’t see any Qld players taking such measures. Clearly those north of the border don’t get origin.

You wouldn't want them in the trenches with you. Its even worse if your trench happens to be underwater.

NSW look the stronger line-up and (with Madge fanning the flames) will be keen to avenge the Game 1 loss by winning the series in enemy territory. Saying that, Qld are favourites - which means NSW are, in fact, the underdogs.

Then there's the Klein factor-

He'll be lenient on Qld for the first half (at leas)- letting the Maroons defenders stand a metre offside, charge out of the defensive line early to smash the Blues player with the ball, lay all over NSW in tackles and take their time. The crowd will love it and the commentators will wank themselves into a frenzy about how "Origin never ceases to deliver" so it will give the impression of being a fair dinkum application of the rules.

Some point in the second half, Klein will start piggybacking NSW to even up the penalty tally so the stat nerds can pretend it was a legit contest. The question is can the Blues hang in long enough for the tide to inevitably turn- and do enough with the ball and territory to get the win?
Nailed on!

Not an Orgin standard player. Api should have been picked for all 3 games. I think he’s the best player we have. Madge obviously has a personal problem either with Api or because he’s at the Tigers.

So you would have picked a specialist hooker as the utility player on the bench, instead of a player who is an actual utility (i.e. Watson)? Sorry that's daft. You do need versatility, and whilst Watson may not have the guile that Api K. does, he can tackle better, misses far less than Api does, has better pace, and can play in the backrow, hooker, halves or even in the centres.

Considering your utility player might only get 15-20 minutes of game time, its a luxury to take in a second specialist hooker in a squad for this type of series.

Big gamble for QLD to take a hooker and a fullback on their bench, if a forward gets injured or is underperforming then they have limited options. I wonder what role Ponga plays? He's kind of shown for club that he's not that good in the halves, he's kind of a one position player and QLD already have Reece Walsh in Ponga's chosen position, very interesting.

In today's game Watson is definitely Origin standard and easily NSW's best utility player. He excels in the backrow but also if need be can do a solid enough job at hooker or in the halves. In case of emergency he could play centre or fullback as well if need be, only positions he would struggle at would be wing and prop I reckon but I've never seen him play there so I might be wrong.

You're right that Api should've been picked but it should've been over Robson. Robson is good but Api is much better.

Queensland selector Darren Lockyer has revealed David Fifita's continued State of Origin snub is all down to his inability to aim up when under fatigue. Maroons coach Billy Slater has refused to pick the Gold Coast wrecking ball all series, even after their forward pack was dominated in Game 2.

LMAO what a cop out..

Game 2 Billy gave his bench like 20 minutes each.. pretty sure Dave would be able to put a strong 20 in lol.

Kaufusi - 10 minutes
Capewell - 37 minutes

Even if he doesn't think Dave puts in a strong 80 he'd have more impact then 10 minutes from Kaufusi off the bench.

It's a "figleaf" defence from Lockyer.

No offence to Lockyer he was a legendary player but ever since he gave slater man of the series and defended it his opinion means nothing to me. Just another ex player who’s opinion means little.

Seeing the comment you posted literally above this one, people could well ask you the same thing...
You don't think Ashley Klein favoured NSW in game two?

Anyone with eyes and a brain who watched the game thinks he did.

At least two NSW players should have been sinbinned for foul play. NSW continued to agitate until he binned a player from both teams.
