He’s not a Spencer replacement. We need to move on from the myth that was Spencer. For all the potential he never quite delivered. Maybe playing for the benchmark of the competition will be his making I don’t know but for the most part he was either under used with us or just not worthy of more minutes.

This is a three time premiership winner, who has represented his country and been 19th man for his state. He has also bled for our jersey, he came back pretty quick this year after a pretty gruesome injury.

The point I simply make is Spencer was a limited minute player when he burst on the scene and never really moved beyond that.

He didn’t deliver to demand 40-50 minutes and remained an impact 20-25 minute player. Half a dozen runs for 50-60 metres and a handful of tackles when he should have been able to deliver much more.

Huge potential but just didn’t deliver consistently or often enough.

I didn’t say you did.

Im simply suggesting Liam Henry is good enough to make a statement in 2024 and just might be good enough to become are forward leader from 2025 and beyond.

Whether he can do what Smith did and adapt his big motor game to an impact bench role I think will define whether he fits into the first 17. He’s got elite starting middle written all over him.

I always love the off season, and beginning of a new season. Because it will always bring great surprises.

This year Kenny shocked me in a good way, with what he was able to produce on the field. Hits like a truck, service improving each and every week. Looking forward to see how Sommerton goes.

Sunvia on the wing, didn't miss a beat after May did his ACL. Fascinated to see how he goes in 24, and to see if May can transitition to centre.

How Liam Henry goes when brought in on the bench (or does he start)

Can the next man-up keep Penrith purring?
Losing key players is nothing new to Penrith and so far it hasn’t impacted their ability to be the best side in the NRL. Conventional wisdom says that doubting the Panthers’ ability to keep calm and carry on is foolish, but they’ll have their work cut out for them replacing a couple of the players who left the building following their third-straight grand final victory last month. Stephen Crichton has been a huge part of their success and last season he was exceptional, combining brilliant attacking ability with some excellent defence out wide, both of which were on full display in the grand final when he made several plays that kept his side’s unlikely comeback alive. Ivan Cleary also loses the services of Spencer Leniu who has for some time now been arguably the best specialist interchange middle in the NRL, bringing impact and complimenting the starters perfectly. Talent like Crichton and Leniu doesn't grow on trees and while Penrith will be backing themselves to replace them, it won’t be easy.
