He sucked. Tyrell Sloan rightfully got lambasted for his howler in the in goal against the Warriors, but from memory it was a Musgrove error that let the Warriors get down that end in the first place. I'm happy to see him go.
Lazy defender, got an error in him, and if you read between the lines off field behaviour/attitude isn't his best attribute either. Very happy to see him go. Now, BMM, Turner, Max Feagai, need to all head out the door.

Sloan I understand was a winger coming through
..the pathways? Only footage I have seen of him was at fullback or 5/8. I agree re Amone he may be a future lock in the JDB mould, if he can harden his defense and attitude. JDB never had much speed but the bloke has been the soul of this club over his many years.

You referring to the dust up he had at training with big Rava, who seems a bit of a favorite with FO so did they take his side then demote Musgrove so no recurrence. If Musgove did have a downside, agree it was his tackle efficiency, but he was not the only one in our side.
Now, BMM, Turner, Max Feagai, need to all head out the door.
Take the worst of the Fegais, Matt with them.. pretty please.
from memory it was a Musgrove error
Everyone makes mistakes, we are all human. Still no point defending him now he has gone. Is Flanno can pick up someone with his intensity when carrying the leather to the line, plus a better defender then we will have a very good player.

...and you dont exile good defenders to the outside backs where he defends for us. He is a lazy defender so by playing him at hooker in reps, he has nowhere to hide.
Hunt lazy? Come on mate that's very harsh, he's anything but. I also don't get what you're talking about, he defends in the same position any halfback does, outside the second-rower and inside the centre. He doesn't hide at all. The only time he's in the outside backs is from kick off, where he goes to the wing, which is also what teams do, put the halfback on the wing from kick off. It's so the typically smallest guy doesn't have to make a tackle on their typically biggest guy who has time to wind up and run it back hard.

If F Molo and Sua and Birdy are all on approx $500-$550k each right now it is chalk and cheese with Birds contribution when playing

Maybe Flanno is the horse whisperer but Jack Bird every time he hits it up was just collapsing his legs in the tackle, very protective of his vulnerable ACLs

Hit ups minimal metres
Line breaks minimal
Post contact zilch
Breaking the line zilch
Pretty messy and inconsistent defence
Has a fair few penalties and mistakes in him.

I just want to use that $500-550k per season better but it maybe very difficult to get a club interested given his unfortunate injury history and only one my rupture from retirement

He is not the play he used to be and we need much better performance from a left edge backrower

JDB has shown he owns lock for now- when playing 😂

Hard decisions needed for high performance to be nurtured

Alex Twal on the market.
I know he's from the Tigers.
Does anyine think we should get him?

I don't think we will get any hig names in 24 ,
More likely 25.

The issue is whilst he might improve us for 24, we probably don't need him for 25. He's not going to leave the Tigers on a 1 year deal from the Dragons and he's pretty average so I'd give him a miss personally. Just don't see him as a part of the team going forward.

Id add he is a crab runs sideways and the reality is on this year’s performance I don’t think any club would want him.

Good defender, big motor. Nothing special but if the tigers chip in he would be a decent signing

You would think that Flanno would be looking at the capacity of a player to achieve critical areas Re the next middle forward we are after.

Play of the ball speed?
Ability to wrestle?
Metres gained but also when are they gained ie a starting prop first hit up or off the bench?
Minutes on he field.
Etc

My gut feeling is that if Alex Twal knows he is not needed for 2024 at the tigers and definitely not needed for 2025 then he maybe open to a year same pay at another club where he can prove himself

Tigers have two very good starting props so it doesn’t mean Twal is substandard

He maybe an answer for us as a 1 year plus club option?

I mean it’s no guarantee we can get what we want Re props for 2024 or 25

He is an improvement on Musgrove

Not sure if mentioned already, but Amone hasn't impressed Flanno.

So, 4 spots available in top 30 squad. Again, Russell may take up 1 of those.
Not much wiggle room unless more of the 'tapped' players find alternative clubs.

Ps if Twal can match his stats when he was voted VB hard runner last year then he would be handy at right price

41 tackles
19 hit ups
8 decoy runs

So assuming we lose all tapped players (asterisks), we will need to sign 9 players.
But you forgot Burns he still may be offered a contract along with Russell and I believe Amones tap is a big rev up, more than anything else

Agree, and I've heard Russell has or is close to re-signing, but with Burns I haven't heard much, and yes he maybe offered a new contract also. Considering the slim pickings around, that may not be a bad thing.

Twal doesn't offer much off the bench so he'd have to be a starter for us. His defence is excellent though, so he'd probably strengthen our middle in the early stages. Not much use to us though if there's no impact coming off the bench after him.

Just checking that although Jackson Shereb is signed on till end of 2024 he remains on the development squad list not the top30?

It’s a confusing one when searching online Re Shereb
