2024 Squad List

If you had to lose a couple of players in a terrible decision making process, these would be close to the two you would sadly let go.

Which reminds me that there has always been a few historic pre-season catastrophes for SGI involving players. Part of the DNA and folklore.

Firstly, there was young Gasnier who was done in that Charity Shield and was wiped out for months when the season started.

Secondly, I think I can recall that 7s or 9s tournament. I think it was interstate, and you lost 3 or 4 key players for weeks. I think you won it though lol. Mary was coaching I think.

And then there was that young guy on the cusp, very young and strong, club favourite son type. He got smashed in a trial and his career ended. I wish I could recall his name.

Hopefully that’s the end of the dreaded SGI pre season curse for one more year.

Best of luck to both players. Terrible news.

The injury toll, tests my loyalty to the game sometimes. Does my head in.

I don’t know why you have this pre-season curse and seem to get skewered more than other clubs before the season starts, but you can set your calander to it.

It’s not something that should qualify as DNA or folklore, but I know you guys are passionate about everything, the good and the bad. It’s all part of your rich tapestry.

If there is a slight silver lining, these were out of the box recruits. The same novel thinking is preserved and remains fully operational.

He had a fair squad at the sharks that year but they weren’t premiership contenders until flanno worked his magic.

I do tend to agree but we really cant take a break at the moment. Just hope Flanno has a Plan C & D but I am definately still on the bus !
This isn't ideal news to start the year off. Not good to hear that 2 new signings are gone already but in a way it's good to know that the younger guys in lower grades might get a chance by Flanno to prove themselves and we start using them more to build our team for the future from within like Penrith have for the last few years. It might take a couple of years but after what we have gone through the last few years it would be worth it to see and have a top team full of players who have passion to succeed for themselves and the mighty dragons

I'd like to think that a miracle will happen to us that we certainly do deserve.

The whole place needs a full spiritual clean out and be exorcised to rid all of the bad karma.

While Flanno wants the squad to be more fit and have better endurance, the other thing that is needed now I think is to bolster the minds of all of the players to be psychologically and mentally strong to overcome our setbacks.

I don't know who could give them a talk but someone has to do it.

It might work out that through injuries, Flanno has to have a massive throw at the stumps by promoting some young guys. Does anyone know what the deal with Ben Rumble is? He's not listed as a supp player or a T&T player, yet he's been training with first grade the entire pre-season. I'd imagine he actually is on one of these lists, but the last time we got updated he didn't have an official contract yet. Typical of our club not to give us an update for so long on this. Does anyone know which of these lists he is on?
