Honestly don't know why we even bother.
My method of keeping my hopes up for a bit longer is to use the following thoughts:
"Flanno is waiting to announce the new signings until the season is finished as the players are still playing for other clubs"
And if that doesn't work I resort to:
"Flanno is waiting to announce the new signings until after Nov 1 so it looks like the deals weren't done during the time when he shouldn't have been talking to the players".
So I am golden until Nov 2 - then I can panic!

So if he refused to play, he is in breach of his contract, therefore we don't have to pay him the $1.8m over the 2 years, while he sits on his ass with no income, do you honestly think he will give up all that money, won't happen.
It's a powerful tool for Hunt.

Do you think the club wants to have a player not playing and tying up cap space or even worse tanking on the paddock?

FTF may very well say Hunt is staying, playing and captaining is one thing actually achieving that is another.

Hunt has all the trump cards in his hands.

If Chunt isn't playing he isn't getting paid, so we wont have cap money tied up, its very simple, he plays he gets paid, he sits out he doesn't get paid and we can use that money on someone else, further more, Hunt doesn't have all the trump cards in his hand.

1. FTF wants Hunt to stay and said he will not release him.
2. Hunt has said he wants to go back to QLD.

So IMHO if Hunt does go back to QLD then he held all the trump cards and played them to perfection.

Well we were discussing your hypothetical of Hunt refusing to play and sitting out the season and our cap getting screwed and somehow Hunt held the upper hand, which he doesn't in that scenario, now IMHO if we were to release Hunt, i would assume we would ask for players in return or release fee and maybe it would be for the better if he did move on, so maybe we played our cards to perfection..

Well best we agree to disagree.

I cannot see anyway our coaching staff, roster managers, sponsors etc will want to have a player either tanking, feigning injury or going into mental rehab (all very viable options for Hunt and he stays on our cap through all of these scenarios).

There are lots of ways for Hunt to manipulate the position and not take the field but remain on the books.

The mere threat of any of those means we are handicapped in an essential position and would force us into a position to get rid of him despite the coach insisting he wants to keep him.

A veiled threat is sometimes very powerful indeed.

WTF is this FTF ? It obviously hasn’t caught on so how about you call him by his name so we all know who you are talking about ?
A bit harsh there DP,
For me I don't care if it catches on or not but no doubt you know as do others who I'm referring to.
I mean I couldn't come at calling Mc Fookknuckle by Mary or Mc Gregor & so it is for Flanagan.

Let us be positive to try to put another annis horriblis behind us.

We now have a premiership winning coach that knows how to target a good player worthy of wearing the RedV.

We have a hi performance coach with an enviable reputation. After all he got us into the condition needed to win the 2010 premiership.

We have players primed to take the big stage now and and an exciting group of juniors in the future.

We will be jettisoning players that have not been up to first grade standard, with the hope that their replacements will be in both offense and defense.
