Yes he most certainly is. The big difference is that Melbourne have quality players in the positions he should be playing so it's done out of necessity
So, rep players Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker are not quality players according to you? Wow!

Form is temporary, class is permanent mate. Jye is still a rookie don't forget. He has to earn his stripes whereas Cody and Latrell certainly have over their entire careers.

While I'm keen to see how Jye performs in his first ever 1st grade game at 5/8, we shouldn't expect too much of him at this early stage of his career.

While Cody Walker's form and fitness has been down so far this year and for much of last season too to be fair, I think people take for granted what he brings to the side. He calls the shots in attack. When we put on a try, even if he only played a small part and just passed the ball on before the try assist occurred, he called the play. People just think he's doing very little and bag him for not doing "more".

Well. who is directing the attack now he's out? Can Gray or Sullivan do it? Can Latrell do it from fullback? My fear is, no one will and it will represent a bit of a dog's breakfast.

Cody has been our general with the ball - even when Reyno was here. Jye Gray is a great prospect but he isn't our general yet, no knock on him of course. He's still a rookie. Hopefully one day he can become our general. Humphreys too is still green and not there yet but he too can become that one day.

Lets get real eh? Jye Gray is still the apprentice. He has shown great form and potential to start the season after just 7 games, but he's still the back up player for fullback and five-eighth.

The coach certainly doesn't think he has overtaken the incumbents as of yet.

Wayne has confirmed it will be Doddy into the 17 on the bench.

I wouldn't mind if he decided to start Dodd and shift Sully to the bench since Sully covers more positions if needed but, I'm not the coach.

Last year we could have had Wally Lewis or Brett Kenny playing 5/8 and it wouldn’t have made any difference with the side we fielded

I'm trying to find a great quote that very much sums this all up.A long time ago I remember one of the legendary NFL coaches being asked why he put one of his gun players back in the game when he was slightly injured. He haughtily replied to the reporter asking him "Because that's where your best players belong, on the field not twiddling their thumbs on the bench"

No twisting mate. Show me where I have twisted anything. You can be quite offensive mate. Settle down eh?
You said that I said Latrell and Cody were not quality players. That is very much twisting my words. Also, I fail to see where I'm being offensive. Seems instead you are being a bit precious.

You very much implied they are not quality players and your post cannot possibly be interpreted any other way.

In response to my question asking if Tyran Wishart was being "wasted" on the bench, you replied,

"Yes he (Wishart) most certainly is. The big difference is that Melbourne have quality players in the positions he should be playing so it's done out of necessity" which can only mean you think we don't have quality players in the positions Jye Gray should be playing - i.e. 1 & 6 in his case.

No twisting done there mate. You can't have meant anything else.

Where you're being offensive is where you accuse me of twisting your words. I am a straight shooter mate. I don't twist anyone's words and I don't take kindly to being accused of such when it is simply untrue!

Now you call me precious when you have been having kittens over Jye Gray being retained in the 17 but shifted from the number 1 to the bench. Get a grip! I'm getting tired of this nonsensical bun fight.
Go on, have the last word and end this crap already. But please do not hurl anymore names. That won't fly.

Wow! I seem to have struck a nerve. As for not being interpreted any other way, you are spectacularly wrong. I was saying that the players in the positions Wishart could play are his equal or better. For us that is not the case. If you were talking centre then it's no contest. Trell is head and shoulders above Jye. We however are not talking centre but rather fullback where Jye has definitively proven he is superior to Trell. If you're so sick of debating this issue then it's really quite simple. Don't reply. This is a forum, I am here to discuss issues. Don't like my POV then ignore me.

Walker, Ataata and Casey drop out of the squad with Dodd onto the bench and LLB and Fletcher remaining in the 19 man squad.

For the Storm, Nelson has dropped off their reserves list and won't be a late inclusion.
