Same issue as most the conference setups here

You've got 2 barely leaving Sydney
Then the southern division spread from Perth to Fiji..

Chucking Perth in the western and the wellington/Fiji in the east would be a good start (although a Wellington & Fiji team named "southern" is a bit dumb)

Your right I was really just coming up with 24 teams. The only reason I’d do it this way was if we a had a 20 team comp. play each team once, 19 games, and the other 4 in your conference twice with one another game as a rivalry round for 24 games.

ill have a go myself - but wouldnt go 4 division, with 24 2 of 12 is fine

1. Port Moresby Hunters
2. Pacific **** (based in Hawaii)
3. North Queensland Cowboys
4. North Brisbane Dolphins
5. Brisbane Broncos
6. Brisbane Tigers
7. Gold Coast Titans
8. Newcastle Knights
9. Manly Sea Eagles
10. Parramatta Eels
11. Penrith Panthers
12. Canterbury Bulldogs

13. Sydney Roosters
14. South Sydney Rabbitohs
15. Macarthur Magpies
16. Cronulla Sharks
17. Illawarra Steelers
18. Canberra Raiders
19. Melbourne Storm
20. Melbourne ****
21. Adelaide St George Dragons
22. West Coast Pirates
23. Auckland Warriors
24. South Island ****

Split based on a line from north of Bondi to north of Perth gives a fairly equal travel spread

IMO mergers are plagued with issues and relocations would of been the better option, so I've remedied this:
- Magpies full time to Campbelltown, as Macarthur, lobby for a new stadium with the a-league side
- Tigers license given to easts in Brisbane, Broncos focus shifted west, dolphins north, titans in the south
- Illawarra Back, full time wollongong
- Dragons to Adelaide - saints x city of churches
This is unlikely to actually happen so the more likely option is the same list but the mergers remaining and new areas to get new teams

Hawaii team is very pie in the sky BUT, for a pacific islands team atleast Honolulu is a great base, ACTUALLY IN THE PACIFIC, with a big modern stadium, local TV rights, and can slowly increase RL interest in the states, Id have them play trial games in California, 1 game fiji, 1 game New Cal, rest Honolulu

Hunters is reliant on PNG somehow being more logistically viable to base a team in by 2040, if not swap this for Wellington

Actually coming around to the idea of 2 conferences of 12 teams as 4 conferences of 6 teams is a little bit convoluted with trying to draw boundary lines for each conference.

If we are reshaping the competition for 20 years time, we really should be taking advantage of the rivalries in our sport.

For 24 teams that makes an obvious 12 divisions where the top team of every division goes into a draw for the title. This way we can take continued advantage of the local rivalries that tend to draw the best crowds.

Each team plays home and away the other team in their division 12 times each for 24 rounds. Imagine getting 40k each week at the SFS as Roosters play the Bunnies every week. It writes itself.

group 1: Cows v PNG

g2: Broncs v Dolphins

g3: Ips Jets v Titans

g4: Knights v CC Bears

g5: Sea Eagles v Tiges

g6: Roosters v Bunnies

g7: Sharks v Drags

g8: Eels v Dogs

g9: Panthers v Raiders

g10: Warriors v Orcas

g11: Storm v Reds

g12: Wigan v St Helens

Nothing could go wrong with that plan.

Lol nah. People get bored with the same thing every week. Rivalries need to be built up to with anticipation
