Two of the biggest Sydney teams with premiership hopes pull a massive 31,000 crowd compared to two of the poorest performing teams in the comp who only managed to pull a measly 25,000 crowd.

You've made your point well

Yeah, 'cause everyone in Brisbane goes for the Broncos. Tryin' to keep it simple for you, but it ain't that simple :?

the situation in sydney is the same, 3 of my good work mates each support the warriors, knights and storm.

fact is that there is a league game once every two weeks in brisbane. this weekend there are four in sydney, you should be getting more than 25k to one game a fortnight! Brisbane the home of league

Anyone still think we shouldn't move games to Homebush?
Over 25 000 for the Rabbits and 32000 for the Dogs. That's another 17000 fans who got to see a game of NRL.

Aside from the two announced at the start of each year, and maybe a home semi?

Yes.

We're the Parramatta Eels and should play at Parramatta.

The ANZ crowds are bumped by ANZ members, the cheap tickets and giveaways made for friday night and other club members as per the souths game.

So?

We are still giving MORE PEOPLE the chance to see the game and spread the word.
Sure, leave the smaller drawing games at Parra, but the games expected to draw more than our capacity should be moved. I have no doubt that if the Saints game had been moved to Homebush, there would have been more there than what turned up at parra, even though Parra didn't sell out.
It's not just about us, it's about the game as well.
Besides that, we don't do too badly financially for the few games we take there.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind shutting fans out of games. I can take on board the usual arguments like viewing prespective and atmosphere. I understand those things. But if we want to increase membership and exposure, surely we have to expose as much as we can.

We have to sell our game at every opportunity.
Fishy, if you want to push the argument to stay at Parra, start pushing harder for an upgrade to capacity at Parra, because these past two home games are showing that there is a demand there if the capacity is there.

The game is growing and we must do whatever we can to foster that growth.

where is the line drawn?

Two games?

4?

6?

Or is it decided on a weekly basis.

A couple of games each year, announced at seasons start, sits fine with me. If a game is sold out at Parra, thats terrific. An op to sell memberships.

I just don't understand the reasoning behind shutting fans out of games. I can take on board the usual arguments like viewing prespective and atmosphere. I understand those things. But if we want to increase membership and exposure, surely we have to expose as much as we can.

and thats the thing, if we want to increase memberships (and push for more season ticket holders), where is the value in stumping up cash for a season ticket, only to see a game moved to homebush and then thousands of freebies given? There's no value. Why would you stump up for a ST if you're getting into games cheap or for free anyway? (and no, not saying those promotions we had were bad, they got people through the gate).

We have to sell our game at every opportunity.

Where would the AFL be if they had kept games at Morrabin, Punt Rd, Windy Hill, Arden Street etc........
It just doesn't make any sense to shut people out of games.

Still the second most watched on TV football code in Australia?

And thats where the dollars are.

Nobody has been locked out of Parramatta Stadium this year. ;-)

I see your point though Suit, and it is a valid one, I just dont agree with it.

That's ok. I understand yours as well.
I've think you've mistaken my thought that I want to move EVERY game to Homebush. That's not the case. I'm happy the way things are. Wouldn't mind moving one or two more games there. You are right. It should be known before the season. And it should be the blockbusters.
I'm happy to stay at Parra for the majority of our games. But these past two home games have proven that there is certainly a demand to take the bigger games to Homebush.

Can I just add - you asked where the value is for season ticket holders, considering the freebies that are on offer?
Well, that is your choice to buy a season ticket. Don't take me the wrong way though. As long as the conditions and locations are clear at the beginning of the season, I don't see a problem. The other thing is that any game(s) we move to Homebush undoubtedly provides infinitely better facilities for ALL supporters than what is available at Parra, so if anything, games moved to Homebush are a bonus.
I wouldn't have a problem if we were selling out games against the Cowboys and Raiders and leaving them at Parra. They will never be huge drawing games anyway.
But the blockbusters (i.e. - local derbies) must be moved there in future, unless capacity at Parra is increased significantly, which I don't see happening unless we win the bid to host the Football World Cup. Even then, it ain't a given.
Shame you didn't take advantage of the brilliant facilities in the members bar at the stadium on Friday night. An excellent place to watch the game I might add.

Fair enough, I'm happy with the current situation, what I wouldn't like, is, if on an ad hoc manner more games got moved during the season with a couple of weeks notice, ie like the debacle we had in round 1.

Play the majority at Parra, a couple of blockbusters and finals games at ANZ and it's a win-win IMO. Especially if we get a better deal out of Parramatta

It is my choice, and I wasnt really complaining.

I more was pointing out in the context of wanting more season ticket holders. Not much incentive to get a season ticket when you can get freebies for a couple of games and early pre sales for other home games.

Also for existing STH, you know when you buy your ticket that you're getting a discount compared with buying each week as you go. So, when freebies get given out left right and centre a week before the game, I can see how some would think 'whats the point of paying up front when they're giving them away?'.

Again, not an issue for me, but I know some of the tight arses that sit around me

Agree wholeheartedly. Two home games a season at ANZ should be an absolute maximum.

May as well start calling ourselves the f**king Sydney Eels and be done with it if the club shifts us further away from our Parramatta base. I doubt we will move any more games to ANZ though, as I seem to recall bringing games back from ANZ was a campaigning issue.

Absolutely Fishy. Exactly my point from my first post today.

It's just that there has been some smart arsed comments about taking games to ANZ lately. Crowds etc....

We'd still be in the dark ages if we thought like those twats.

there were plenty of vacant STH seats around me in both ANZ games. Any more games moved to anz would have a negative influence on memberships sales.

Any more early season losses would have a bigger influence.

How do you know they didn't sit somewhere else?
It's not as if there's a shortage of seats out there, and if people can sit with friends when they don't otherwise get the chance............maybe that's what they are doing.

I'd only move 2....maybe 3 a year. Saints, Bulldogs, Souths? Plus home final. Thats 4 at max and I think a reasonable amount.

Would hate to think a Parramatta Penrith derby would get played at Homebush.

Likewise, would hate to think all future games against, say the dogs, would be played at ANZ. Not seeing Parra v Canterbury at Parra again would make fishy sad.

It wouldn't make Suity sad.
I remeber a quite recent one where we were heavily outnumbered. (at Parra)
I enjoyed the crowd balance on Friday tbh.
