Sydney population is 4,284,397 (9 NRL sides - souths, roosters, penrtih, Eels, tigers, cronulla, manly, sharks, dragons) 476,000 per NRL side

Brisbane population is 1,857,594 (1 NRL side - Broncos) 1,857,954 per NRL side

Bit of a difference in market share champ

Umm 10 teams Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs!!!

Anyway I went to the game yesterday thanks to the Parramatta Eels club/fans for a great day. :D

-There was 25,000 there yesterday. I have been to that ground many times and the crowd was correct.
- Who said there was a lot of souths supporters. A couple of thousand at best. They were all just in one bay apart from a few others around the ground. That's why we did not get more apart from the train problem. People called 2GB to complain and said they gave up trying to get to the game.

Nah, it is 9. Thankfully Cronulla only field one team, or we'd probably lose to the other one too.

The crowd was poor, but we were not playing well to that point. If it was round 24 and we were coming 2nd, South in the top 8, we would get 50,000 easy.

I guess we are the Parramatta Eels, and not the West Brisbane Eels for a reason...... besides, there is more to do on a weekend in Sydney than just watch sport #justsaying

easiest way to work out if brisbane fans are bandwagonners?

look at their memberships, they average 35k crowds and can only get approx 13k membership. that's 1/3 committed.

then you look at us, average 15k and have 10k committed at closer to 70%. not too far off for all other clubs.

plenty of blow-ins every match for the broncs, but why aren't they committing?

I believe only 6-7K are ticketed members and with our avg this year of 18K it works out about 1/3 are commited. At the end of the day if a team is winning they will always get better crowds then if they arnt and anyone who supports the club irrespective of how closley, they should not be mocked.

I attend maybe 5 games a year if im lucky because of time contraints or money issues being full time student who has 35 contact hrs a week plus work on weekends. This is the first year I will be considered a member (because before you had to be a ticket member to be considered a member and I use to just get the supporter packs). Does this make me any less of a supporter then others?

I will also be more inclined to spend my money if the team is winning, like last year I went to all the final games in excluding the finals even thou I had only attended 2-3 or other matches that year. I am not going to waste $25-40 on tickets to watch my team perform poorly, i may as well what that at home (TV or internet).

P.S I did not go to the game because I was at work, but tbh I would have loved to attend.

Memberships don't necessarily transfer to bums on seats Sherlock. Look at Souffs.

It's a one team town. I don't follow the Waratahs or Swans closely at all but I usually get to a game or two of each every year. It's probably why they get so many.

Also you are in a pretty good seat no matter where you are in that ground so you don't really need a membership to secure a good spot.

Two of the biggest Sydney teams with premiership hopes pull a massive 31,000 crowd compared to two of the poorest performing teams in the comp who only managed to pull a measly 25,000 crowd.

You've made your point well
