just a question but does a home ground advantage mean anything these days?
if we move more games to ANZ how can we say the air con in the away teams room just went bung and shrug our shoulders?
i dont think playing at ANZ is getting more new supporters to the game just more away supporters and doesnt that kinda remove any sort of advantage a home team will have?

Any more early season losses would have a bigger influence.

How do you know they didn't sit somewhere else?
It's not as if there's a shortage of seats out there, and if people can sit with friends when they don't otherwise get the chance............maybe that's what they are doing.

Suity
they could of had a mini bus full of friends and still sat in the same seat

Maybe if we sell out our own home ground first - just once - then it might be feasable to plan to move a blockbuster game there next season.

Until we do actually sell out our own ground and it proves "too small", apart from a Dogs game and a Rabbits game (to maximise our "away" fans by playing at their home ground) any thought of shifting other games is... pie in the sky (queue PP ;-)).

wtf?

We've just had a home game that had 12000 more people at it than we would have had at Parra. I don't understand your point. :?
I don't care whose fans attended. 32000 people went on Friday night.
We have given MORE fans the opportunity to see a live game of NRL.

I know ;-). I'll try again.

My point is that our home ground (located in our team's heartland) hasn't sold out yet. When we sell it out more than once, then imo we'll have evidence (rather than conjecture or opportunity) that the club should think about planning to shift more than two of our home games to a bigger stadium.

The two home games played at ANZ now are through convenience against the teams that use it as their main/only home ground. We benefit by attracting more of their away supporters into our home figures. It wouldn't necessarily work against other teams, we need to have some sell outs and locked gates at Parra Stadium first, to build it into a "hot ticket" before expecting the move would come off.

Unless you're advocating that all teams' home games should be played at ANZ, to give more people the oppurtunity etc? I think that's what they've done with AFL in Melbourne, abandoned the suburbs and just have everyone playing out of the same two big grounds? I wouldn't like to see it in league, our strength is in the suburbs imo - it's the people close to the city that seem to be more keen to go in for the Swans and Waratahs and Sydney FC.

At the souths game, I sat on the other side of the stadium in ga with friends

while I know some sth who don't go to anz, I don't think you can draw many conclusions from some empty seats

well the MOST likely home game to sell out was just played at ANZ - may well have sold out at parra

anything close to a sell out at parra is as good as a sell out (ie 20,500+) ... I reckon its almost impossible to toally sell out these days, cos ppl just don't bother showing up thinking they won't get a seat if there is any talk of a game selling fast

Exactly what happened for the St George game.
We probably wouldn't have sold the dogs game out at Parra either = Bart's point is redundant.

One post you say my point is redundant, and the next you are claiming you've made the same point?

I'm talking about the Dogs and Rabbitohs, the teams whose fans already use ANZ as their home ground. You seem to be talking about other/more teams or games...? :sarcasm:

Read the two highlighted points from the two posts.
Both address different issues. I agree with strider in the first and had already said what I quoted you on in the second. :sarcasm:

My point - which you've admitted you don't understand - is that we haven't exactly demonstrated a demand to move more than the existing two games to Anz.

I know you've been wanting us to move more games there for some time, and since you aren't addressing the various points made in my posts I predict this will just go around in circles (but again, no need for PMs to further discuss my posts ;-)).

I can see what you are saying Bart, but I can also see what Suity is saying. TBH, I don't think your point is redundant, but it doesn't buy into the speculation that Suity and Strider have come up with which is what it is without solid research data to back it up.

Their point is that if the word gets out to the Media, that a game is going to be a sell out. unless it is a "Special Event" game people wont line up to get tickets, they indeed wont bother trying to go and get average seats for a regular home and away game and they will just watch it on the box.

I also believe Ron Jeremy has been making the same statement for years now, that if the Stadium capacity doesn't rise and tickets become easier to get then we face the fact we may not sell out many games because availability is to limited to allow walk up punters to watch the boys play.

But still we need some continued very big crowds at Parramatta Stadium to warrant any move, The Dragons game was disappointing, as was the Manly game, I know a lot of the talk around the club was having 2 sell outs at the start of the Season, and they fact they didn't Manly put down to the limited availability of tickets and they way we sold them

Indeed with our manner in which our club released tickets for the First round, I was surprised we got as many as we did, however if that game had been at ANZ, with more than double the seats available just in the lower bowl, we may have had a lot more away fans and casual fans turn up.

no worries - i'll get my team of researchers onto it right away just so we can clear it up :thumn

no, Ron's just a lazy bum who couldn't be bothered driving down for games and uses that as an excuse
