Two matches is time?

Okay... I'll raise you Armstrong, Jones, Ryder, Woodfull, Ponsford, Miller, Lawry, Stackpole and Harvey. One of them beats five failings. In some cases ten.

It is enough time and this comes from watching Doherty at FC level as well. He is just not good enough, as simple as that. Why prolong the obvious conclusion. He should be dropped.

All of those players were before 1990. Recently Victoria has been awful. I would also rather go for someone better than any of the Victorian quicks..we saw how well McKay went! Copeland and Cameron are better and both bowlers swing the ball, we don't need any more seam bowlers who bowl 135km- we have two already!

Australia have lost the plot. Tommy Smith would be cracking a stiffy for sure. To say this is far from good enough is an understatement.

Love you too, Twizzle. :D

Im as English as Andrew Symonds is Aussie.

Btw how the tables have turned - the Aussies praying for rain in a home Ashes Test.

Ahh good times.:)

My third test side.

1. Watson
2. Katich/Hughes (injury dependent on Katich)
3. Ponting
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. Cameron White/Andrew McDonald
7. Brad Haddin
8. Mitchell Johnson
9. Nathan Hauritz
10.Ryan Harris
11.Peter Siddle

1) Id recall Johnson more out of hope because Perth is quick and bouncy and Johnson skids on to the bat.
2) I never thought id do it but id consider Andrew McDonald for the 6 or 7 spot. I dont know why. But he has played 4 tests for 3 test wins. He has scored good runs this year and he is very economical. I guess im hoping he may also build some pressure and rub off on some of the other bowlers. And I also think we could afford him at 6 or 7, as we have 3 guys below him who can legitimately bat.
3) Hughes in for Katich if injured. Id have Hughes in the side anyway but thats obviously not happening.
4) On which bowlers to pick then i honestly am pulling names out of a hat but 100% Hauritz over Doherty

Highest test score: 203*
Test batting average: 55.88

Brad Hodge should have enjoyed a far longer test career.

As it is now, I'd bring in White, purely because he's consistently there for the limited overs team. Otherwise, shifting Hussey and Clarke down a spot (or Clarke down to 6) and bringing in Khawaja at 4.

My team for third test (if we lose big time)

1. Watson
2. Katich/Hughes
3. Ponting
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. C White (c)
7. Haddin
8. O'Keefe
9. Harris
10. Copeland
11. Bollinger

12. Johnson

The fallout from our humiliating defeat

*Nielsen is fired
*The selectors are told to start looking to the future
*Ponting is axed as captain
*C White is Australia's new skipper
*The selectors name a 17 man squad with Khawaja, S Smith, Hilfenhaus, Siddle, Katich/Hughes to miss out

Fortunately there is the real possibility the rain saves us, rendering all this moot.

I can't see Hussey being moved to 4, he has just recently been saying how much he prefers batting at 5. Clarke will get runs at 4 he is just struggling a bit with everything lately. No way would I be bringing in White before Steve Smith.

Doubt very much that Aust will make substantial changes either way...

and as several commentators have noted, you just don't have the players in waiting that will make a significant difference anyway

All the Bollinger love, and he's been ineffective... who's next? The 3 pace bowlers are adequate, you don't have a half decent spinner, and North is simply not up to it...

Smith for North might be a good option, or Smith for Doherty- although Smith needs to play as a bat who can bowl, I think

Is there going to be an SOS to Hauritz for the third test?

I guess that depends on what Hauritz said to the people that matter once he was dropped.. You would think if they want another spinner in the side he is the best option we have.

I, at the start, felt like it was a good move to introduce Doherty- I think those of us in that camp were perhaps so taken aback by his performance in the ODI and Aussie fans were so keen for a top of the line spinner, which you haven't really had since Warne. (As it is, I think there is a world wide drought of truly world class spinners at the moment anyway).

I think Ponting, and many of us, will have to put this down as a rush of blood to the head.

Yeah, agreed. Hauritz is a step above Doherty in my eyes but Hauritz is no world beater. '

Fine weather in Adelaide

If Clarke is unfit, I'd bring Hughes in and move Watson to 6. NFI what to do with the pace attack but I'd like to think these guys could clean up in Perth.
