Third test thoughts...

Shaun Marsh for Katich in Perth given his local knowledge? Hughes instead? Or is it worth trying Haddin or Hussey up the top?
Thoughts on the make up of the side?
Should Clarke be moved to 5?
Will Johnson be brought back?

If Katich is injured and out id bring in Hughes or open with Hussey
Khawaja has to be brought in the middle order

Johnson will be back unfortunately, like night follows day just wait and see

you want Siddle to get another hat trick? :p

I just think Finn may prefer a damp pitch to bowl on later in the day.

Have to say I'm annoyed that Broad is being denied the opportunity to bat. I really really enjoy watching his progression as a batsman.

Declare now or at drinks in the next session? If Eng come out after tea I imagine KP will come out with fireworks.

It really wouldnt suprise me if KP get to 300 in quick time after tea and then poms declare

on this road, with our shot and tired attack, if anyone can do it, he can

Strauss is fairly predictable and if true to form he'll declare today before close - probably at drinks

Pretty impressive if KP gets 300 - I doubt it - he may have neough time for 250, though.

Is 400* out of reach? Probably.

Len Hutton's 364 set in 1938 for England is certainly within reach though. All depends on the thoughts of Strauss I guess.

Declare now. It's plenty what they've got.

Third test changes for me:

Watson
Hughes
Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Haddin
Smith/Khawaja/Hastings
Doherty
Harris
Copeland
Bollinger

Not sure about the 5th drop. It really depends on the pitch I think. Perth can be quite good for spinners if the pitch is the right one, especially with the amount of bounce you can get, which is why I picked Smith. Warne I recall saying the same thing a few times. I love dual spinners as noted earlier, and I think he brings more to the batting line up than North has. Khawaja is an out and out batsman which may well be what we need. The pitches in the last couple of years have been much more favourable for batsman and given our struggles... Hastings is an option in my opinion. He brings batting skills and can hit the deck hard. Might just be a good option. Copeland in. He's a must.

Hah. They're not that dumb. The match comes before KP's records. Maybe if it was Hayden and Hayden was captain - but no other way! :p

covers on due to steady rain, so could be a while before play again

though if they dont get on by 5pm AEST, then its stumps I think

:)

It's all Cook and Trott's faults for batting too long. Actually it's also Bolinger, Siddle, Doherty, North, Watson ect for not bowling the top order out quicker. Now KP will have to settle for a measly 200+ ;)

Laughable. Why is the spud Doherty in the side? What was so great about his bowling. He is a ODI bowler FFS! Ckarke is unfit, I am sorry he is, so drop him until he is fit. Katich will be there, he is fine. The no6, I would go to Sean Marsh OR Usman Khawaja. Hastings is RUBBISH..again a ODI containing bowler.
