Laughable. Why is the spud Doherty in the side? What was so great about his bowling. He is a ODI bowler FFS! Ckarke is unfit, I am sorry he is, so drop him until he is fit. Katich will be there, he is fine. The no6, I would go to Sean Marsh OR Usman Khawaja. Hastings is RUBBISH..again a ODI containing bowler.

Doherty gets an entire series plus another as far as I'm concerned. Every cricket fan knows you need to develop and build a side and to persevere with your spinners. By your rationale, Warne would have played one test. It's not NSW Origin. Katich is fine? Have you been watching the game? He can't even run! He hasn't been able to run since Brisbane. Hastings is rubbish? He's taken 60 odd wickets at 24 with an economy rate of less than three in Shield games. That's as good as anyone else going round. Go on genius. Do better. Put down an Ashes winning squad.

Patience is not a virtue our selectors have when dealing with our bowlers let alone spinners in their endless search for Warne's replacement.

I agree. There are some that probably need a bit more Shield cricket to get back to their best (Johnson, Hilfenhaus and Siddle). But few that should be dumped full stop.

Doherty is VERY ordinary. We need to either look forward and pick O'Keefe OR we go back to Hauritz who is in form. As simple as that. Doherty has a poor FC record, what has he shown that has questioned that recrd. He has barely turned it off the straight and KP has smashed him all over the park...and he was brought in the side to contain KP! Katich will play (Hughes would be on standby). We do not need any more ordinary Victorian bowlers.

My side

1. Watson
2. Katich (Hughes)
3. Sean Marsh
4. Usman Khawaja
5. Ricky Ponting
6. Michael Hussey
7. Brad Haddin
8. Nathan Hauritz OR Steve O'Keefe
9. Ryan Harris
10. Trent Copeland
11. Mark Cameron
12th Ben Hilfenhaus/Doug Bollinger

That's pretty ruthless to drop Doherty. None of our bowlers have done well except Siddle's once in a lifetime performance. Pietersen has belted seven shades of sh*t out of all our bowlers. He's just scored a double century. That's exceedingly rare. Kumble was never a big turner. You don't need a big turner to take wickets. You need time. Do you really think O'Keefe is the man for the job? Good player but very raw. I don't mind your side. Cameron is a bizarre decision given there are young guys who are doing just as well. Apart from that it is okay. See that? Constructive criticism.

What's being Victorian got to do with it? Best team for the job.

Might be rutheless, but no more rutheless than dropping Hauritz..or Krejza. Doherty has been given time and has failed, he is going at 5 an over. Too expensive for a so called containing bowler. Time to move on. Either Hauritz or O'Keefe comes in. I do believe O'Keefe has the tools to make it. We could do worse than punt on an exciting spinner who can bat well.Cameron is in form, was our best bowler in the Australia A game.

I would rather avoid too many Victorians, Warne aside they have been woeful in test cricket. Siddle, McDonald, Hodge, McKay..etc. They were all fairly average.

Two matches is time?

Okay... I'll raise you Armstrong, Jones, Ryder, Woodfull, Ponsford, Miller, Lawry, Stackpole and Harvey. One of them beats five failings. In some cases ten.

That team would get arse f**ked even more than this one is being. Though the irony is not lost at all that you picked it......
