The Rogers dismissal turned sharply.

There are visible rough patches halfway through day one. The Adelaide Oval bloke even just now said they've cooked it to try and make sure there is a result. Drop in pitches are not inherently dead lifeless things. A pitch curator who wants to do something with them can easily do it.

Swann, Lyon and Panesar will have big roles to play in the 2nd innings.

I hope this is an indication of a long term plan. The SCG has become much less of a turner in recent years. I hope the people in Adelaide make their pitch Australias great spin ground of the future.

For the development of our players we need more varied conditions.

No one says that drop ins are inherently lifeless but obviously a proper square is ideal.

The concern has come because the adelaide oval has been flat for shield matches. That said having a wicket crumble to pieces on day 1 isn't the answer either.
