If Warner is back I’d personally drop Burns and keep Wade opening. But I think the selectors will do the opposite.

At risk of sounding like I’ve got a vendetta against him.. Burns was served up a comfy innings opportunity yesterday after India fell through the floor and had their lips dragging on the ground. Thus he’s finally found runs against feeble opposition. Like he did against NZ and Sri Lanka before..

I think there’s better value with Wade still in the team.

If Puckovski is 100% fit, and only then, I’d put him at 5 to replace Head. Wouldn’t open with him. But as it happens I would be very hesitant with him, there’s underlying issues at hand well documented.

There is no universe in which Wade offers more than Burns...

The idea that Wade is in any way comparable to Head with a Test average ten runs lower is laughable and this Wade meme needs to f**k right off.

Unfortunately I feel the selectors are just as stupid

Head's average massively boosted by feasting on a horrible Sri Lankan attack.

I'd still go with Head just because he is younger and has time to turn it around, but he has hardly set the world on fire.

If Pucovski hadn't been concussed, he'd be there over both.

Unfortunately the series will go to shit form here.

India are and always have been mentally weak. Add the capitulation in the first test to Kholi leaving and the injuries and the result will be 3 more floggings.

The King really rustles your Jimmies mate

Not at all, I like King Wally!

As for Gutherson, he belongs in a #1 jersey.

Burns has scored 4 test centuries.. Against weak opposition (Sri Lanka Twice, West Indies and NZ in 2015). His 50 in Adelaide was admiral against the form he had going into to match, But he still gave chances against a flat India without Shami.. This guy scores runs against mediocrity.

Wade also has 4 test centuries. 2 of these were tons against England in England in 2019, including game 1 at Edgbaston which was crucial to winning the game and thus overall the series.

Burns has had a soft test career, against mediocre opposition and scored “big runs” in non-critical matches/series. He’ll now possibly get that chance again against India if they can’t pick themselves up from the Adelaide disaster and the loss of Shami.

Wade kicked the door back down with truck loads of runs in the shield... got back in the team with a start in the 2019 Ashes, and got two centuries.

Baz can live in his universe and I’ll live in mine

Opening is very different to batting at 6. Wade did ok but Burns is a specialist.

Having Green in at 6 is so much better for the balance of the side. Wade might be a bit unlucky but he’s the one who should get dropped.

Haha Wade is garbage. Burns is a good cricketer in awful form. And a genuine opener

Wades played as many soft teams and done shit all mate. That's why is average is also shit

If Warner is fit - drop Head
Burns and Wade play the rest of the series (unless India look like winning and they are out of form)
Unless he gets a heap of runs, this is Wade's last series and Head or Puckovski comes in
Similar for Burns - get runs in the next 3 games and stay in the side for the next series - otherwise find someone else

With an average of 31 Wadey would be pushing for a spot for in the Windies top 6.

It was laughable he was brought back as a keeper and even more laughable he was parachuted into our top 6 batsmen.

He’s almost 33 with absolutely no upside, why would you drop anyone from our top 6 for him??? And if Puckoffski gets himself right should be ahead of the useless little plank as well.

Wade is a meme. Nothing more.

Rubbish cricketer who somehow got in after an already failed Test career on the back of ironic support from the fan base and stupid selectors

Burns is the equivalent of boxers who’ve fought south East Asian nobody’s to accumulate a record to try and get a shot at a title. He’s scored runs against nuff nuffs. When he has actually scored runs...

Wade (amongst other things) has gone abroad and and been a vital cog in claiming the Ashes on English Soil for the first time since 2001. Something Sleepy Joe Burns could only dream of and never achieve..

Wade brings more to the team than Burns. Burns is a genuine opener but couldnt open a jar of vegemite all summer. To pick him rewards mediocrity. To keep him accepts it. Far more deserving openers available than Sleepy Joe.

On Pucovski - his form demands selection but given there’s no shield to play for ages, I’d be very hesitant to pick him to go make his debut in tests after the guy was knocked senseless in his last innings, and not played for significant time since. He’s played only 3 games all summer, the 3rd of which was the headshot.

If selected, his head would be a target bigger than Shane Watson’s front pad. I think he needs to play shield to get confidence back before getting sent out to play. But hope he does get to play tests at some point in the future, the guy is bristling with talent.
