A lot of sports are played in every state. For one to be a 'national sport' it would have to be declared so by the Govt. AFAIK that has yet to happen.

In all honesty, if he is available, we could do worse than picking him as the main spinner for the India tour.
Sack Lyon, pick Botha and SOK for the SCG test to give them a chance to bowl together. Then take them to India, have a left and right arm spin combo.
Botha is a winner, and a leader, and would be invaluable for his on field calm, experience, and tactical mind.
He is a containing type bowler, which is what we need, and would be a more than handy bat at the 8 spot as well.
