If Khawaja continues to bat like a space cadet and Burns does a good job, we might end up with Burns at 3.

Burns can bat anywhere. One of the many reasons it was so weird they took so long to get him in the side this summer.
Burns needs to get some runs first

This could be Burns last shot really, if he fails here with Warner & Smith about to return I could see the selectors moving on from him completely.

Should also be a big test for Khawaja.

Won the toss and batting.
Big day for Burns and Khawaja in particular.

Burns won't get a better chance to show he can step up to test level. Otherwise he's an above FC player.

Finally Paine wins a toss

Was Labuschagne laughing at the Indigenous song in the Welcome to Country?

Why do they need to do this at any international event. I respect indigenous people and culture but do we need to be reminded of it every time Australia plays.

They should have played Stoinis

He is now going to be picked for the ashes no question. Likely no Shield games to prove or unprove himself due to ODI tour to india after bbl

Guys like Renshaw, Burns and Fergo will still have to score runs in Shield to secure or lose a spot, where Stoinis walks in

If Stoinis played here and failed, then you just cant take him, if he does well then he was going anyway

thoughts? or will the selector do the right thing 'sly smile'

Another poor dismissal, he is out nearly the same way every time. He is going to struggle in England always playing in the air through there.

So, what's the deal with Canberra?

Is it an admission that this match is probably not going to draw?

Is it seen as a legitimate Test venue these days?

Well there is a chance they will get a better crowd than Hobart.
