For the ashes I would like our three main pace men to be Pat,JR and James Pattinson if fit.Josh Haze has only been a shandy better than Starc recently, and we all know how ordinary Mitch is travelling atm.

Pattinson hasn’t done enough in shield cricket to get back, hasn’t played a test match in 3 years. If we’re going off form you can’t include him.

Yup, that's the way I read it

Stoinis aint been chosen in the squad to carry the drinks, the Stars would have a fit

To be fair, Stoinis temperament in both BBL and the ODI v india has been very good, no stupid or rash shots and he has been able to bat longer than most and score runs, then again so too (dare I say) Shaun Marsh

From reports Manuka Oval will be a road, so the top 5 bats should do well regardless who is at 6

If Patterson is dropped I’m going to be very pissed. If it’s for Stoinis I’m going to be doubly pissed. Stoinis bowling record is rubbish in shield cricket, Labuschagne provides the 5th bowling option anyway.

Anyway Stoinis won’t carry the drinks if he’s not selected, it’ll be right back to BBL. there’s two other squad members anyway.

Dont change a winning side.

They did for the MCG test. I don’t agree with the idea of not changing a winning side in cricket, it’s a horses for courses game. Plus it’s more 11 individuals playing in a team than it is a team sport.

Khawaja & Starc should be dropped for mine. No need for Stoinis either.

Stoinis is actually from WA

But we don’t need him for this test. This obsession with all rounders got Henriques, Hastings and Labushange baggy greens

Hastings? Never heard him described as an all rounder. He’s handy with the bat, but not a real all rounder.

Shyte teams do.

Pretty sure they mixed it up e.g. windies playing a spinner sometimes and Australia playing 2 spinners sometimes - otherwise guys like MacGill, Miller, May wouldn't have had many games.
Think Australia played a few games with Michael Bevan batting around 7 as a second spinner

Correct.

The whole "don't change a winning team" is one of the most meaningless catch phrases in sport.

Our winning team for a day night pink ball test in Brisbane doesn't necessarily suit conditions in Canberra.

That said I wouldn't change the side, except for batting LobsterParmigiana lower

It would seem likely that if Stoinis comes in it will be at the expense of Patterson. Other option would be to ditch one of Burns/Khawaja and push Patterson up the order

Stoinis getting a test spot thanks to the derp fest known as BBL is kind of amusing and sad.

His wickets have been more oj shot selection than any special bowling.
His first wicket against the Heat is a six at any other ground.

Bevan batted at 7 because we had a Captain not capable of scoring runs. And then Bevan was dropped never to return while that fat f**k continued to Derp it up.

Scored 4000 runs in one test on the biggest road in the history of the game and everyone forgot he was carried for over two years.
