If you can't see the plain fact that Hughes ran himself out then you have NFI about cricket. Firstly it wasnt his call and secondly he didnt call no. Fact is if he obeyed the call given he would still be at the crease.

You're surprised they had an aussie accent? There are immigrants now from that part of the world who are 2nd or 3rd generation Aussies.

The majority of people in the Sri Lankan section of the MCG today would have been Aussie born.

And didn't they wave that Aussie flag with pride

Hughes was supposed to know he was about to misfield?

And if he didn't misfield there would have been a run out, hesitation or no hesitation.

How about there was always a single there.

Hughes had two options that resulted in him not getting out - calling 'no' or running. He chose neither.

I say this as a massive Hughes fan.

There was a single there minus the misfield

Hughes just went full genius and he paid for it with his wicket

Yes you can. Both times he completely ignored his partner whilst running, or in today's case standing still.
this. Cricket is a team sport, batting is done in partnerships, if you can't communicate effectively with the guys you're batting with, you have no business playing cricket professionally

If Jonathon Trott hadn't of played so poorly in 2012, Phillip Joel would probably have 3-4 more centuries to his name.

Also this rotation policy we have with our bowlers really isn't allowing PJH to settle.

sope to bat all day day two and some of day 3 order of the day id imagine
Declaration with a lead of 350-400?

SL would ideally like to dismiss us for well under 300, which is also quite possible if we throw our wickets away eg warner, hughes

bring on day 2

I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to diss Jonathan Trott? He is an excellent batsman, in the top 20 fastest batsmen to make 2000 runs (a feat he completed this year) both in terms of time and innings

Not really. Just an observation

Trotts pretty good, probably not as good as his performances last Ashes suggested, but a good batsmen.
