 Way to give credit to one of the greatest batsman of all time

I am not saying he isn't the greatest batsmen of all time, he is a level above all others. I just think that at his age he should be declining but he isn't at all so I think the Bowlers are pretty ordinary these days.

no selectors will make bulk changes to a team, 2 at most

guys like Hussey, North and Hauritz should not be there but you cant make too many changes in one go, and knowing our selectors they wont make any

they get paid whether we win or lose

Yep.

2nd tier

5. AUS
6. PAK
7. WI!
8. NZ
9. BAN

The good news is that Zimbabwe are scheduled to return to test cricket next year. Aus should be able to eek out a few victories over the Zimbots.
f**king Punter...now Pommy cricket fans are giving it to us.......f**k me.

On the bright side, thanks to The Parraboy tipping us, I have made a profit....never in doubt.

Lets be honest here major changes are needed. I am sorry but 1 hundred should not save North, and Hussey needs to go. I would bring in the classy Ferguson to bat at no6, and I would bring Usman to bat 4, with Clarke shifting down to 5.

As for the Bowlers Bollinger, Hilfenhaus and Johnson pick themselves. Then we will need a spinner in Australia.

It's sad to think that it probably will.

Massive TFC's for Katich, Clarke, Hussey and Hauritz in this series. All together contributed nothing in both tests. George could be added to the list too, and North still had 3/4 innings below 10.

North and Hussey need to go, and ive been a fan of Hauritz as I think he always has at least held his own, but he was awefull this series and its time to change. To be honest we actually did pretty well if you consider we were competitive in those 2 tests without a spinner. There spinners won them the series. We were constantly belting India around only for the spinners to come on and tie things up. Unfortunately we didnt have that option they did

No it does not make sense to move our best opener to no5. Stupid. It is almost as bad as leaving North in the side. Katich can go down the order if you want.

Yep, exactly what my team would be. Watson needs to move down to shore up the weak middle order

It might also be worthwhile to drop Ponting down to 4 to take pressure off him

best opener
haha..still on that line....he is a not an opener...they are capabale of double and triple centuries and have a great convertion rate... Shane has neither...but would be great as a 5 or 6... many 50's the odd hundred and the odd wicket.

Punter wont be captain for ever and Shane will take his place down the order where he will be great for the team.

I would prefer Usman @ 6, replacing Punter when he retires, like Ricky's start to tests.

He averaged 65 in this series with a 100, 2 50's and a 30 odd. You don't move him. If you want to move someone, move Katich. Last time I looked Katich isn't technically an opener. We need to fix the middle order before we fix the opening pair who are 2 of the few batsmen IN FORM!

Locky you should apply for a selectors job, you are as clueless. Cabbage converts. Cabbage gets big scores as openers should.
Yes Shane got a Hundred this series 2 from 39 innings, 2 for 11 halves...what you, Ricky and Hilditch call an opener. What the rest of the world call a quality all-rounder.

Yes in form means in form not position, I am not suggesting Shane be dropped from the team, just to his rightful position as all rounder.

Then again, you rate Hauritz, why I bother with you I am unsure.

If anything the fact you disagree, means I am right, If I agreed with you, I would have to question myself.

Katich does not convert any more than Watson does. In fact for an opener he has a pretty ordinary conversion rate. You want Hughes in, Katich can bat 3 or 4. You don't move your most in-form players regardless of who they are. I would rather stay away from Hughes until he proves he can play the short pitched ball.

Watson's natural position is in the top 3. That is where he is at his best- it is where he has scored the vast amount of his big scores. You bat him there, pretty simple.

I rate Hauritz, only for the fact that there are no better options and Smith is a batsman before a bowler.

You are kidding right????

There are MUCH better options.

O'Keefe just to name one.

Stats sometimes don't say everything but ...

O'Keefe currently has an average of about 23 in first class cricket.
Hauritz currently has an average of 43 in first class cricket.

I have absolutely no doubt O'Keefe will be named in the test side within the next year ... if not sooner.

And one more thing:

O'Keefe is bowling NSW to victory against SA
Bowling to Victory: Something Hauritz has never done and never will do.

WRONG!

As Openers:
Watson 2 centuries and 10 fifties. Conversion rate 17%
Katich 8 centuries and 16 fifties. Conversion rate 33%

Katich also has the better average as an opener

Katich >>> Watson (as an opener)
