Good day of test cricket that. Surprisingly excellent application from our batsmen

197 runs today, Smiley and Smarsh batted well, Wadey edgey but still there. India bowled pretty well tbf.

Lead of 48. It would be nice to double it at least.

Stumps day 2.

Australia lead by 48 with 4 wickets in hand. Very good batting performance under pressure. Had we been in this situation back in November last year with the way the side was going, we would've capitulated under pressure and would've been bowled out cheaply.

Renshaw and S Marsh batted sensibly, taking minimal risk and scoring good fifties. In these conditions, a fifty could end up being a match-winning innings. Renshaw will be extremely disappointed he got out the way he did. He succumbed to temptation after hitting that six. Wade has batted well so far, but he needs to cut out that Glen Maxwell element in him with all this high risk shots such as sweeping the ball from the other side of the wicket.

Hopefully we can bat until at least lunch tomorrow and pile on another 60-100 runs. I will feel a bit more comfortable and relaxed if we can get past 300.

How composed is Renshaw in the interview. Very impressive for such a youngster. Even though Clarke called him Matt Shaw

Don't want to be chasing anything more than 200 on this deck. Would be nice if we could get up to 300 with some handy runs from Wade and the tail. Anything above that is a bonus. Happy with the way we batted today, putting some value on our wickets.

That was pretty weird how fox just played the Mike Whitney tooheys ad from the 80s. Fun to see though. The good old days when guys in the crowd wore beer cartons on their head

Wade and Starc both have the potential to score big, but hope their impulses don't get the better of them early in the first session tomorrow and start slogging it. There's still 3 more days to go - that's a lot of cricket. So, time is obviously not an issue, the remaining 5 batsmen can still afford to score at a bit of a slower rate (2-3 runs/over) and take minimal risks. The longer Australia can bat tomorrow as the pitch continues to deteriorate, the more pressure India is going to be under when they bat. There were a few balls Ashwin bowled that behaved erratically, so there's some very promising signs for Lyon and O'Keefe when they bowl.

Also, India have no more reviews for the remainder of the Australian innings. Some very poor reviews from Kohli this series

Awesome days cricket. The first session was high drama.

India may carry on like pork chops but I really enjoyed the way they bowled today. It is refreshing to see batsmen having to work their arses off for a meagre run.

Still don't know which way this will go, but there seems to be a mental strength in our side that is not going to be overcome easily.

Well, amongst most of the players anyway...

We really have a test match here. The script has been flipped and India don't quite seem to know what to make of it. Still they're not going to give in easily, thankfully neither are we. Really love the grit shown in this side. Win lose or draw they're fighting hard for it, can't ask for more than that.

Once again anything can happen tomorrow, we could be bowled out and barely add 10 more to the total or Starc and Wade get on a roll and take the lead over a hundred. Both scenario's equally likely for mine.
Would be god damned hilarious if we could knock India over for a hundred odd like in game one. This doctored pitches could backfire spectacularly on them and that would be glorious.

I hope there is a general consensus in here now. Renshaw is obviously the next captain. Incredible test cricketer. Was chatting with an old fella at the pub earlier who got a little emotional when he was trying to tell me how good he reckons Matty is. Reminds him of Lawry. I think the haydos comparisons are strange. He is the new Alistair Cook.

Massive effort from Renshaw. Mark Waugh criticises him for not being aggressive enough against the spinners lol
He is the only one who has taken to Jadeja so far. Junior is obviously preoccupied with watching his f**king horses run.

At some point they need to start pushing on a bit though. Where are the runs going to come from without Smith? It's a bit of a worry

Are you f**king serious? Renshaw has match awareness well beyond his years. This is a tough wicket to bat on and he was letting the bowlers get frustrated and bowl to his strengths. He'll have a crack when he gets comfortable. The day Warner got the 100 in the first session in Sydney Matty also made 85 in the last session. The kid can free his arms when he has the chance.

In his short test career Renshaw has been roughed up with the ball, played through illness, and toughed it out on a difficult Indian pitch. He is going to be hard as nails by the time he is 25.

Bit early talking up Renshaw, he hasn't been tested against the mighty West indies nor NZ like Adam Voges had been :p
