Kind of disappointing, when Smith and Burns were in I was hoping we'd still be batting at stumps tonight.

You know what he got a few bad shots to bring up his wickets but he was relentless lol. I will say that at least he had a plan. I dont think any kiwi has had a plan this summer besides hope the Aussies do something stupid or pray for the ball to really talk.

Such an apt description for his bowling.

He just charges in with a never say die approach. Incredibly fit. Tireless toiler. And as you say, bowls to the field and has a plan.

Consistently our best bowler on flat pitches.

Yep - in these conditions he's very good - I guess the thing is we've not wanted these conditions, but they should pick the team for the conditions we have, not what we want

I hear your point. But I would nevertheless play him in all conditions (bar maybe asian dustbowls - but even then I would be tempted) for his fitness and pick a better bat at #6.

Good luck to him, he never stopped trying and kept charging in. But our batsman today need a kick up the arse.

What did they think he was going to do?? Run in and bowl long half volleys???

and a better opener

No coincidence that our strong period coincided with Williamson, Taylor, McCullum making lots of runs, and at various stages the openers too

Guptill is up with Marsh imo

Sounds like it was a good ball - the annoying thing is it doesn't usually take a good ball to get him

When will the selectors acknowledge the obvious - we can't have a specialist fielder opening the batting in tests

Guptill's future test career is lookin' shaky to say the least.

Ben Smith, Jeet and even Guptill-Bunce as an ironic long shot must be getting some attention from Larsen soon.

Outstanding again from Australia. It's easy to think it will be a competitive series with their relative lack of test experience by 3 or 4 of them, but they are the best and they are showing NZ up.

It's got to be, f**k I'd prefer going back to Papps...

The worry is they'll play Rutherford
