Craig should do a Mark Richardson and try to forge a career as a limited but effective test batsman. He's no bowler.

Sodhi has promise as a spinner, but it must be hard being a spinner for NZ. When he gets conditions that suit him he's up against the best players of spin, and when he comes up against lesser players it's on seam friendly decks.

Southee could be a much better batter than he is, but he can't resist a tonk.

2,6,6,6,out - 20 off 5 balls and declaration.

Great knock Taylor and very good declaration, it would be nice to see the Pakis go for it but i bet they go the block being 1 zip up.

NZ scored 250 at 3.85 in their innings, was often around 3.5 per over till the big splurge at the end

There is a carrot there. They should at least try and go for it.

It will tell you a lot what a test cricket side they are, or are they just flat track bullies who need to bat first at home to win tests

Southee now has the equal record for the most amount of sixes in Test matches by an 8-11 batsman.

Shares the record with Wasim Akram but it took 50 less innings to do it.

Southee Wicket!

Pak 1/32 lunch, (min 58 overs remain)

229 to get

Anyones game. Pakistan slight favourites I think
NZ do need to get a few wickets before tea

A draw in the end, but great stuff from New Zealand to make a match out of it.
Had it been the other way around, New Zealand would have gone for the 260 and probably got close

Pretty pleased with that tbh, I do think they're a good side - at the end of the day needed more advantage from the toss - someone at the top had to support Latham...

Nonetheless, Taylor played a fine innings, Southee and Boult continue to prove they are the goods... we're short a spinner, and either an opener/#5 but we're doing ok

I would have liked to have see us declare when Taylor got out or at the first drinks break. A chase of 230 and the carrot would still have been dangling even if we had then 80/4.
