Good innings from the skip but it should be considered high treason to get out to this chap when you are set.

NZ lead 300+ at stumps at the end of day 2. That’s healthy. 3 days of cricket to play and this is for the series- what’s a good total to set?

He's looked so much better than anyone else it's not funny, he almost looks bored, like he's trying to make it harder

Taylor looks in good touch too, shame there's not more tests

Wait, what? Is Latham being rested? Surely to hell he hasn’t been dropped for a nuffy like Tim Seifert

Surely for CDG that’s code for get your head together else you’ll be on your bike son.

Yeah. I read that he was 'rested', but maybe he was just plain dropped. Bracewell and Neesham's form has been very good.

Also, Santner is back and playing cricket. You'd have to imagine there's a bit of pressure on Sodhi.

So, what does a declaration look like here? I'd say no more than 50 odd runs from now- 350?

Arnold just said to Doull- "I'm going to bonk you"

Just thought that should be documented.

The lead is now 401. Obviously there are a few batsmen who can bat for some time and score some runs. There's also plenty of time to chase a big total. I'd like to see us come out and score some quick runs on the the side of lunch and then have a crack at cleaning up Sri Lanka, while giving them a total that they're interested in chasing.

This feels a bit indulgent- as if we are batting for personal milestones, but without any sort of urgency. The lead is now considerably large and Sri Lanka will just try to lock up and bat out two days for the draw. It doesn't look as if the bowlers are raring to go. You'd imagine Sri Lanka will bat tonight- maybe for 20 overs or so. If they go to stumps with 10 wickers in hand, I'll feel a bit as if we've missed a trick.
