Can't believe the kiwis would pick a Numpty like Patel and bat him at 8, at least Hauri can bat.

It's a ridiculous decision - he's an ok offie - probably better than Hauritz IMO, but a genuine #10... our top six is rubbish, we need a tail than can bat... I'd definitely have had 6 batsmen, Vetorri at 8, and be tempted to have Franklin in as well... if they want two spinners, I'd also have Nathan McCullum ahead of Patel... much the same as a bowler, but a much better fielder and bat

Southee having a decent test

I just looked up Patel's first-class record - and it's even worse than his test record - where did the myth that he's a decent bowler come from???

Yeah I dont know why they keep picking Patel. Should have picked both Williamson and Franklin. We've blown the best chance we will have in a while to beat Aussie in a test.

I think this test confirms a few things.

Martin needs to go. I'm not sure of who his replacement is, but he needs to be replaced. If he isn't performing with the ball, taking wickets, his complete ineptness with the bat (especially when our batting is an issue) becomes less and less amusing.

Patel is not an international spinner- we definitely should have gone with Williamson. Our tail was ridiculously long in this test and it has cost us.

McIntosh and Guptill need to be given an ultimatum- step up and score runs or be dropped. Sinclair's innings was disappointing, but at least he occupied the crease and I think that helped out Taylor.

Sinclair looks our best bowler!

I agree, although I liked what I saw from McIntosh in the first test.

Guptill's the reverse of Sinclair - he's never done a thing in first class or test cricket, yet seems to be the second batsmen written down in any test side... Sinclair has imo been treated very poorly, and I reckon that'll continue - as I said elsewhere I'd like to see a lineup something like this in the next year or two

Watling (although I am not convinced)
Raval
Williamson
Taylor
Ryder
Guptill/Neesham/Broom

another ton to Kat

he might have been a bit slow here but he is very hard to shift

103 NO off 264, I take that every time

Hussey may have just saved his spot for the ashes as well
