To be honest Ryder looked a class above Taylor to me, and on Taylor - it was hardly a great knock - I said he needs a kick up the arse, and I don't think that's changed - had he been dismissed early (as he probably should have been) would you be saying it was a bad call? He also could have run Ryder out, and ultimately even though he scored 150 got out to a stupid shot... not questioning his talent, but there's something lacking upstairs for me

I agree that he didn't bat well but even if he had have nicked out early I would have backed him to stay in the side. Who is next in line after Jamie How? Neil Broom? He isn't international standard...

Also, don't mind Taylor playing that shot when he is on 150 tbh...

Ryder gone.

Simon Doull: "He's made 200 and I don't think he's made a single mistake".

I even said out loud right then "Good one Doull, watch what happens now."

Commentator might have been McMillan, but ah well, when in doubt blame Doull

the longer he stays out there, the longer he stays away from the pie shop

he is such a natural talent

McCullum 86*
vetorri 34*

Finally a decent first inning  Much will depend on how the wicket lasts, but finally we can be in the driver's seat

Never been happier to have been off the mark...

In saying that, only half the batting job is done so far - we really need to bat them out of the game.

To be honest Ryder looked a class above Taylor to me, and on Taylor - it was hardly a great knock - I said he needs a kick up the arse, and I don't think that's changed - had he been dismissed early (as he probably should have been) would you be saying it was a bad call? tbh, he could have gotten 10, 25, 0 in his next 3 innings and I would still be saying how bad the call way. Flynn, Taylor and Ryder should be persisted with for at lest the next couple of years, because they are clearly our classiest batsman to develop at this level, and Guptill is not quite in that bracket for me just yet but not too far off it

The stupidest thing I heard consistently between the 2 test matches is that Kane Williamson should have been put in the team. Far too early, I would give him another full season of 1st class, and if he dominates that, then he should be knocking on the door very loudly

Great first innings from the Kiwis

I feel sorry for McIntosh- I am pretty sure he has been on the receiving end of two poor decisions in successive tests.

India 67 for 1- Sehwag out. Gambhir gets the benefit of the doubt on a tight runout appeal

good to see India copping some stick

looking at the kiwis score I thought it was a road, but they must have bowled well to get 3 wickets

haven't really seen much of this test match
