Wade and Lyon are simply great Australians - what they did yesterday was unbelievable really, we'll all tell our grandkids about that

I hope the boys come out this afternoon and continue with the same mindset... You know the one where you value your wicket occupy the crease and bat time... And in case anyone was wondering time is that thing that we still have 4 full days of with one full innings already in the books.

Also Renshaw looks pretty organised and clam for a 20 year old which is nice to see for a change.

Funny reading some of the comments though, I'm guessing from the way some of you are carrying on you prefer big leavers, loose shots and quality triple Quineys of 16 balls before throwing their wicket away?

I was surprised reading the comments on facebook. Most people were able to appreciate how Renshaw and Khawaja went about surviving last night and the crowd at the ground definitely did too. Test cricket isn't dead.

If uzi and reni bat well, smith should bzt at 3 and put warner to 4, 5 or 6 to bludgeon tiring bowlers.

HEAVY EMPHASIS ON IF.

And like I said last night boy did scoring look easy once the ball got old.

Some short term discipline will really pay off against a ball that is 30 overs old. we've already knocked 12 overs off it.

I hope so. Renshaw looks a very collected individual, the concentration on his face last night was refreshing to see. The fact that we're lauding a 20 year old 12 overs into his Test career about his concentration speaks volumes about how T20 has f**ked Test cricket in this country though...

Clever declaration by Faf in principle TBH. Caught the Aussies off guard and thought he might be able to rattle both Renshaw and Uzi by Khawaja being forced to go out in Warners place.

To be honest, I felt after the first three or four overs that Renshaw and Uzi looked far better than Warner would have. The Jaapies were bowling tight and I reckon they may have snagged Warner had he have opened.

Fair play to Wade. Took four catches and a stumping, he's still a (slightly less) useless merkin though. One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Oozie has been an opener for most of his life, he dropped to No 3 for NSW then Qld, no biggie for him and he showed he has teh patience to do it.

Tbh I think Faf did us a favour, firstly he could have got another 20, 30 or more runs by farming the strike as he was batting well, secondly he protected Warner from being Warner and now he'll bat under easier conditions in the middle of the day. Renshaw always knew he was going to open.

I know Uzi and Renshaw are both openers Twizz. The declaration would have caught them off guard especially if your preparation is to go in at #3 or open with a particular partner. The Saffas only had a psychological advantage to attain there, and as you, I and others have said it may not be a gamble that will pay off.

I thought it was a clever move in principle given how godawful we'd been thus far with the bat and with a bunch of debutants he may have thought he could rattle the Aussies and get a few cheap wickets. Uzi and Renshaw dug deep and saw the day out. I would hope they continue on today, would love to see both of them ton up as Renshaw looks good from what I have seen of him in Shield and Uzi is a class bat too when he's not having Mark Waughesque brain farts.

Tbh I would rather Oozie open than Warner, he has more patience and he's a good leaver
