Exactly. He did his job. Whilst that may be a very good effort for Wade, who is a very poor keeper, the fact that he did the absolute minimum required of him as a wicketkeeper is hardly reason to shout his name from the rooftops.
I think he used to be a poor keeper.

But I think you'll find he's improved.

Probably not at Nevills level but still can be a solid keeper who bats which is what we need.

He did his job and you are blowing triple ropers all over the place, egg might end up on my face but i have a feeling something else will be hanging off yours.
Hang on, all I said was give credit where it's due.

Look I've got that out of you lol.

Just read the first 4 words of your post and leave it at that.

No champ your first post to HT said he did very well today, he was solid no denying it and didn't miss any chances but they were all regulation for an international keeper. Shows how poor he is if you were getting excited over something 1000 keepers in Aus could perform. Talking him up after today shows you are a simpleton with absolutely no clue. And i'll ask again have you figured out why Finch didn't play in the Shield game yet???

You're arguing a hypothetical, but if Warner had grown up in that era, there is absolutely nothing to say that he would even be the same player....so it's a bit of a moot point anyway. All I'm saying is that he is a very good player who has been struggling for form and I don't agree that he'd ever be a C grade player.

McGrath - two years into retirement - made Warner his bitch with an absolute beauty in the 2009 ACA All Stars game. If he had to face McGrath in his prime 10 years earlier, he'd be shitting bricks before a ball was bowled:

In addition to McGrath, no way Warner would've matched it against those '90s bowlers on pitches that offered much more to bowlers. Fact of the matter is more powerful bats, shorter boundaries and predominantly flat pitches have inflated batting averages in the 21st century. Warner is no Greg Chappell/Allan Border/Steve Waugh, who could score runs on difficult batting conditions around the world against superior attacks.

It's actually hilarious, genuinely, that anyone would think Warner because of his average is in that category of player... Smith isn't (but at least might develop an argument there) and he averages above them.

Warner's average is similar to Greenidge, and to be honest Davey isn't fit to tighten Gordon's spikes

Not long ago I caught a few highlights of Mark Richardson's comical ODI innings where he couldn't even get bat on ball in Sydney. He made a valid point, McGrath and Lee had that ball talking in ways not seen two decades.

I'm not rating Richardson, but if Warner, and also Guptill, Hales, Rohit Sharma etc. was out there that morning they wouldn't even have touched the ball, it would be bunny season. Modern day batsman can accurately track the ball before it arrives and swing merrily.

Stupid declaration IMO

I get the night-pink ball thing, but SA could have added another 10?20? 30+ runs,

Hope we post 300+ today, and bat well into day 3

At last we have some decent old fashioned cricket, on a deck doing a bit, Warner f**ks up, Faf declares prematurely, then some stonewall from openers that we have not seen for a long time,

Wonder how Faf will feel if he loses by a handful of runs ?

Bring on day 2, this is good stuff

The declaration was a big f**k you to the Aussie team.
Faf thinks they have their measure and that was a statement to rub their noses in it I reckon.

Clever declaration by Faf in principle TBH. Caught the Aussies off guard and thought he might be able to rattle both Renshaw and Uzi by Khawaja being forced to go out in Warners place.

To be honest, I felt after the first three or four overs that Renshaw and Uzi looked far better than Warner would have. The Jaapies were bowling tight and I reckon they may have snagged Warner had he have opened.

Fair play to Wade. Took four catches and a stumping, he's still a (slightly less) useless merkin though. One swallow doesn't make a summer.
