This looks like an ugly defeat

Mind you, we gave the Saffas all those pastings in the Warne/ McGrath era, its time we got a little back

EDIT - At least... we passed the 200...

That's the end of the interesting summer.

Sri Lanka just lost at home to NZ ffs.

What's annoying is the press will pump Australia up as world beaters if we thump them.

However, after not losing a test series at home for nearly 16 years, this will be a third series loss at home over the past 4 years (2008/09 vs S.A, 2010/11 vs England and this series)

btw, so much nicer to watch the cricket in HD now. Why can't Ch9 just broadcast in HD?

Yes... we can see our capitulation so much clearer now

^ What did shit me was during the ODI triangular series last summer, the Sri Lanka/ India matches were all on GEM HD, whereas the Aussies were on crappy SD on 9

Wade looks like he was playing T/20

funnily enough im sure he will cope criticism over his contribution, but our top order is horseshit.

We were always going to lose.

shit bowling. Shit batting. We lose by 400.

so like i said, we are second rate to SA. our best equals a draw. their best equals a massive win.

Step 1: Get pumped by South Africa in a meaningful series

Step 2: Smash Sri Lanka's inadequate Test team like guitars in a mickey mouse test series

Step 3: ?

Step 4: PROFIT!

If we're not careful, we could end up losing this match by 400+ runs for only the third test history and the first time since 1979/80 vs West Indies.

Shane Watson is the biggest problem in the side. Clarke needs to take leadership and bat him at 6, if Watson wants to pretend to be a top order batsmen he can do it in the Sheffield shield. And if he can't bowl f**k him off completely.

A huge shame we are not having the tri-series again this summer. Last summer's tri-series was one of the best (in terms of quality of matches) for many years since I first started watching cricket and it was the correct decision by CA to revive the format after putting it in oblivion for 4 years. Much more exciting rather than playing two 5 ODI series vs Sri Lanka and West Indies. Next year, we only play one 5-ODI series vs England.

Regarding the "profit" part, this year's Boxing Day and New Year's tests at the MCG and SCG should get very good crowds. Lots of Sri Lankans in Melbourne and Sydney, and their first Boxing Day test since the infamous 'no-ballathon' from Darrell Hair in 1995.

we are into the tail mate. the game is well and truly in SA hands.

we cant be careful, but we can be gracious in defeat. 400 or 380, we were destroyed.

^ For such a long time: You just dont beat Australia in Australia, simple as that

Although the one oddity that still stands, how Australia has not lost at the Gabba for 40 years

I would have said that rain saved them in the first test and they were fortunate that Pattinsen got injured in the second test.

Cant argue with this test but they have been very fortunate in the first 2.

I reckon we have a few more issues than just that to be honest.

^ Quality of matches? Australia was getting smashed in the ODIs by Sri Lanka all summer, we just got lucky in the third 'best of three' series against SL to take out the series

24 years (1988 vs West Indies was our last loss)

I think you maybe confusing it with this year being the first time we've played the Saffers at the Gabba for nearly 40 years (1963)
