This partnership does show how bad the Australian top order were in this match. Its a fair dinkum road.

devastating end to Starc's brilliant cameo. He'd had taken the fastest century ever if Lyon could have stayed in

Great series - better team won, although not sure they were better team through the series - at key moments they performed big time though - Adelaide Aussie held all the cards, especially because of Kallis and Philander's injuries - but they didn't have the killer blow - Smith, Amla and de Villiers certainly had the killer blow here, and the 3 quicks showed what quality they have...

Aussie selectors need to have a think too - Hilfenhaus, one series aside, has looked rubbish, and persevering with him and then changing the attack completely was weird, might have been ok against a lesser opposition but not one of thise quality - they weren't awful, but not threatening enough, and RSA were ruthless... and 1-4 for Aust were pretty lame, aside from one score each for Cowan and Warner - not sure Warner's ill discipline can be tolerated in a fragile lineup... felt a bit sorry for Ponting, not the way for an all-time great to go out, but the game moves on, I guess... in reality one of the Aust top 6 looks good - Hussy is 37 too, and despite his recent resurgence had been mediocre for some time, and has always been ordinary outside of Australia...

I'm sure you could paint a bleaker picture if you really tried.

Hallatia will be happy.
yup. Was a pretty good series. Morne did well throughout it. The rest of the bowlers finally woke up when it really mattered. Fell away a bit toward the end, but got there in the end. I couldn't be happier that de Villiers finally got his first century since taking the gloves. All of the top order except Petersen scored centuries in this series. Good runs too when they did score them. Dean Elgar didn't do much in his debut, but I still like him and see test potential in him. I don't think Rudolph will be back in the test side which is probably good for JP, gives him the opportunity to get back in the side and let's us keep Faf who has really relished his opportunity.

I am a bit worried about Philander though, he was below his best this series and I think he is putting some of the old weight back on, which is something he had struggled with in the past.
