Arguably the bigger issue here is the actual performance of the on-field referee. Ignoring the repeated attacks to English kickers was the most obvious failing, never mind the inconsistently applied interference penalties, especially in the second half.

It's become very clear why Australia insisted on getting their home referee. Are the Kangaroos really so insecure that they need this? It's pathetic - Sheens and the current Kangaroo management are unworthy to represent the history and respect that the Australian national team built up over the past century. They don't have any love for Rugby League, they don't care about its integrity, or about any of the people who live for it. They just want to piss all over it and corrupt international football so that they aren't the ones holding the baby when the Australian dominance comes to an end. Utterly pathetic.

Plenty hate it that video refs can slow things down frame by frame, and they argue for video decisions to be made in normal motion.. yet in this instance people seem happy to go by the frame by frame interpretation. In normal motion, you'd be crazy to give that a try. You can seriously not say there is downward pressure. Even in slow motion it is highly highly dubious that there is downward pressure

Ppl are arguing for it because they do go frame by frame for everything else, so why shoildnt they for this?
you can just stop going frame by frame half way throuh a game to get the result u want.

Seriously, they just weren't good enough to beat our 2nd team

Try, try, try. Any day of the week. What is this sudden bollocks about people writing off frame-by-frame revision because "it doesn't look like a try in normal speed"? I feel for England. Screwed by Aussie refs.

It's a poor attempt at clutching at straws and trying to defend an indefensible bit of cheating. Sad how gutless so many Aussies have shown themselves to be.

Have to say, as an Aussie supporter I was very surprised it wasn't given. Would be pissed off if the Dragons got dudded out of a try like that.

16-all with a kick to come for mine.

What if the Dragons got dudded out of a try by a video ref who was appointed despite supporting the opposition team?

If England feel they have to have a dummy spit over that, then they need to look at the 80min performance against Australias almost third strength team

England's poor performance doesn't change the fact that Australia cheated to win.

It's ludicrous there weren't two Kiwi refs calling the shots. Cheapens the whole tournament which has seen some very good footy played.

The ref helped England more than Australia with the 100 forward passes he let them throw
The ref's on-field performance is a matter of interpretation and debate. The video ref call at the end isn't, it's 100% conclusive, you can make excuses about anything that happened previously but the fact is that the Aussie video ref cheated to allow Australia to win at the end of the game.

By the rules it cant possibly be a try. No downward pressure as shown by any replay that is in motion. One end of the ball bounces against his little pinky. If he had pressure, the other end would have risen. But the ball continued on its way despite his pinky brushing it.

The evidence is insufficent to overturn the onfield referee. Hall gave himself up by not claiming a try, and so did his team by preparing to receive a drop out.

He had no downward pressure, therefore it cant be a try. His finger being bent is the result of the ball bouncing upward into his pinky. Sure similar tries have been awarded, but plenty of times they have been disallowed aswell. The onfield call had to stand.

Anytime its in motion its a clear no try. A single frame just proves he knocked it on. If any pom at all had thought it was a try, it may have been sent up as one and had insufficient evidence to be overturned.
