You said earlier you rate Hughes? :sarcasm: Maybe it's just your blue bias - neither of them look like they should be playing test cricket

Actually, Hughes looked the best out there today.

No batsmen have looked comfortable.

This is disgracefull. This team has let us down for four years. We all look forward to boxing day and are treated to this sh*t. This series we will now have scored 300 or less 5/6 and our 5th wicket has fallen before 150 5/6.

People call for young guys but gees England will laugh anytime Phil Hughes or Steve Smith walk out to bat in our top 6.

Ponting needs to stay, but go down the order. He was unlucky today, he actually tried hard and got a jaffer. Clarke probably batted the best he has all series (not saying thats great). Hughes rubbish, Smith rubbish, Watson and Haddin look complacement with there spots and lacked fight, when really they are only having ok series, not bad, but definetly not great.

Fancy bagging a sporting wicket... would you prefer the chain gang to become curators and lay some of the highways that they play on in the sub-continent and make 5/800?

Clearly the selectors stuffed up after the top order failed in Perth... I can't believe they stuck with the same bowling attack.

Surely the pitch can't be as bad as the Aussies are making it look. The Poms have bowler perfectly for the conditions. They've definately missed Katich at the top. He's a fighter and is the sort of player who would fight hard in these conditions.

Will be interesting to see what happens when England bats.

I think Phil Jaques was one of those guys who got a rough deal from selectors. I know injury played its part, but he could've been a good solution to keep the Aussies strong until the likes of Hughes/Kawaja/Smith had a bit more experience and were genuinely ready.

As it is though, his current form this season has been pretty ordinary.

It's not at all. The Poms are playing test cricket putting the ball in the right areas and waiting for our batsman to make mistakes nothing to do with the pitch really it's just great bowling and great test cricket.

Nothing wrong with the pitch.

Superb bowling from Anderson and Tremlett. And Bresnan backed them up sensationally; importantly giving nothing away unlike Finn who was very expensive in Perth.

Even if England can muster 200 they'll be a good shot at winning this Test.

England are specials. 2 Good bowling performances in Perth sugarcoated 2 poor batting performances in perth, 5 embarrasing days in adelaide and the 1/500 at brisbane. England are light years the better side. It was a pretty big toss to win but even loosing it all we had to do was fight for 30 overs and wed be fine.

But credit to England they got reward for hitting good spots 29 out of every 30 balls. They didnt drop shop and they rarely bowled full and our batsman have no ability to fight. Smith, Hughes and Haddin were diabolical.

The weather has come out sunny now and its a bit easier, but if australia had it in them to consistantly hit good spots theyd be a hope, but theyve already let 20 in and its the 5th over.

I said it in another thread. Where has the quality batting gone? Any pitch other than a road. Batsmen struggle to last even a session. I blame the 20/20 rubbish. Time for batting coaches from 19's to test
