This innings shows why Watson needs to be dropped down the order. He does NOT have the temperament of a opener. A Hayden type would have gone on with it and got a massive score (after getting a start) ... but there are those out that honestly believe Watson has done his job this inning and protected the lower order ... no mind he ran his partner out and scored a 50, which in this context is a failure.

Cannot believe people think Watson is a serious option for the captaincy. He's a good cricketer, but he's also selfish and a bit stupid. Every time he gets given he has to review it, even in Perth first innings disaster he was dropped slashing at the ball (having seen others out in that way), dropped twice first innings and short by a fraction this innings, he sets off on short singles without looking at his partner and he doesnt seem particularly thougtful in the field.

Good batsmen who cant turn a start into a big score (and would be under alot more fire for this if it wasnt for the rest of our lineup batting like sh*t) and handy bowler but nothing like cataincy material.

Yep, Watson is never going to win or save a match for us, but his own figures will be pretty decent.

Aus needs a couple of 150's to save this game. Suspect that Hussey and Haddin are the only people this is likely to come from.

Runs out Hughes (possibly destroying hughes career) and gets out for one of his mediocre scores in the 50's yet again. Any decent opener knows how to go on to a big score and not have regular brain farts. He is a key reason why australia are so shiiit atm.
