Were you even watching cricket when Brad Hodge was being Pollock and Ntini's bunny? STFU
You do know he got that 200 against the Saffers?

He was also iirc dropped for Damien martyn not the guys bm listed for some reason.

To try and have a go at me you bring up nonsensical rubbish. Did I ever say he was directly dropped for the people I mention? My point was they could find opportunities for those nobodies over the years but they couldn't give him more games since dropping him.

He never should have been dropped the first or second time and was not given chances while other less deserving players were.

It was a different era you buffoon. That 2005 Australian side was one of the greatest of all time. The fact that a few nuffies got a run 7 or 8 years later is irrelevant. Players like Martin Love or even Boof would have got more caps had they been playing shield cricket in 2013 as 25 year olds.

He got dropped soon after scoring 200 and with an average around 50. The bloke deserved more opportunities. Especially when nuffies like North and Quiney and Maxwell got a go.

 North, Quiney and Maxwell..... Just stfu seriously.

Wasn't he only in the team because of injury anyway? That Perth pitch was disgracefully flat and he got shown up for the pretender he was in the rest of the series.

Martin Love was a lot more unlucky than Hodge.

Firstly, he shouldn't have been dropped in 2005. Secondly, he should have been given more than 1 test in 2008. Thirdly, even if they insisted on dropping him then he should have been picked in 2009/2010/2011/2012 etc instead of those players because he was still doing well in Shield.

He was also dropped 3 times in that innings. Statsguru doesn't show that level of detail though.

That was the flattest pitch in the history of Australian cricket, they batted out the final day without a care in the world you mong.

Go on your stats website and see how he barely got in to double figures for the rest of the series on pitches that weren't highways.

On topic, really impressed with Stokes. He has the ability to be a genuine two way all rounder. Bowls fast enough to be a serious bowler and anyone who could score a 100 in Perth in that context can be a serious batsman.

FFS Hodge played six test matches, that's barely even the start of a career.
His numbers mean next to nothing and likewise who's bunny he was or not.

Did he demand a spot in the XI? Not with the Australian team as strong as it was.

Missed potential? Perhaps. But whether he was a quality test player or not is not even a discussion for a 6 match career. We'll never know and that's all there is to it.

Looking at cricinfo now, neither team got 300 in the first innings on "the flattest pitch in the history of australian cricket". No other aussie got over 71. And only one saffer got over 70.

We're getting back in the game. Need a partnership here.

Ok there could be an argument for not playing him more in 2005 even though I disagree with it but there is no argument that he deserved only 1 test since 2008.

There were 4 wickets on the final day you genius the pitch held together for 5 days and one of the South Africans who was a deadset nuff nuff batted all day for a century, WTF are you talking about no South African made over 70

You didn't watch it so your opinion is invalid. Cheers.

Victorians crap on that Hodge was dudded by the selectors and crap on about being dropped after the double ton but convienently forget the two Tests in Melbourne and Sydney where he was bog average.

Pretty sure he was only in the side due to injury.

Probably would have played a lot more Tests if he was playing today but he's not the only bloke in the that group of players.

In 2005 we could have named 3 Australian sides that would have been ranked 1,2 and 3 in the world!

I do agree that he could have been given a run after all those retirements.

Maybe they were planning ahead and thought he was too old? Selections in general started to get really weird around then and only got consistent again when Boof took charge.
