Good day for the Aussies. Lets hope Punter and Clarke go on with it even more tomorrow.

The good: Punter and Pup's hundreds. Ashwin being introduced into the attack within the first 5 overs.
The bad: Cowans shot in getting out, Warner being tied down and Sehwags bowling.
The ugly: Shaun Marsh and India's fielding.

Warner is great but give me Ponting and Clarke at the top of their game anyday. They have had a lot of great partnerships now.

I can see another Clarkey triple ton tbh...

Punter wont let this dig pass either

Wouldnt be suprised if both hit 300s really

Impossible, Clarke or Ponting I doubt will even get to 300, Clarke will declare long before then. Clarke maybe if he goes troppo but Ponting would need to bat another day and a bit, just too long to bat first especially at Adelaide.

What was Warner's innings like?

8 from 23 doesn't sound like he was himself, was he playing differently or just poorly?

why would anyone want to declare in the first innings ?

wont happen,

you dont want to be batting on the last couple of days so you need to get the best out of the batting conditions, its pretty rare to declare in the first innings unless you got 550-600

Talk of triple hundreds is a bit premature. Maybe 200, but triples are rare birds. Sharma and Khan bowled a good spell at the end of the day and proved that the 2nd morning will be a battle. Australia will look to bat for 2 and a half sessions and have India bat tommorow night. You're going to need time to bowl a side out twice on this pitch.

As for Warner, he's not going to score blazing tons, 50s or even twenties every innings.

They will have that sort of lead by tomorrow as they pick up the pace, 550 won't be enough for either of them to get 300.

not saying it cant happen, just think its a bit optimistic, we really only got these two and Hussey

Haddin is due but out of form, Siddle is good for a few but thats about it.

We dont have the tail we had in the first 3 tests

Adelaide has always been a first innings wicket, by the 3rd and 4th innings the pitch takes turn and uneven bounce. We should bat for as long as we can and hope to bowl them out twice. Batting last is always tough.

Ponting looks much better than he did in Sydney IMO.

Get to 600 odd if somebody is reaching a milestone then bat on if not declare. A declaration would be a nice deflating action but we should grind the f**kers in to the ground
