It's summers like the one last year that make us appreciate what we have achieved in this series vs India. 12 months ago we hit rock bottom, lost 3 test matches by an innings and really hit rock bottom. We've come a long way since Clarke took over the captaincy.

Pup already has 19 tons, he will put pressure on some of the other greats. I wonder how many Ponting had at the same stage of his career.

Anyone who thinks you should bowl consecutive innings at Adelaide needs to watch Calcutta 2001

Yeah, in very hot or humid conditions, bowling twice can have very detrimental effects.

Regarding Adelaide, the 2nd and 3rd highest losing 1st innings totals were at Adelaide (Australia in 2003 and England in 2006). I remember reading that Adelaide tests has one of the highest percentages of 1st innings totals over 450 in the world.

The Australian record for any wicket is 451 again by Ponsford & Bradman

Thats acheivable too.

Ricky Ponting after 80 matches had 20 hundreds and 22 fifties. Clarke has 19 hundreds and 21 fifties. Not much in it is there, if Clarke goes on one of those Bradman type form jumps for a few years like Ponting did then his average will shoot up as well.

I'd be declaring as soon as Ponting gets his double (or gets out in the process).

Maybe another hour of throwing the bat at most.

Gotta get 20 wickets, might (or will) take 3 days.

Nah, bat til tea, and maybe a little longer. Cook the Indians under this sun for a few more hours yet.

As he should. You take a risk but you open up the game, if you keep batting it closes the game off from a result.

We should be bowling by tea imo, we can go on the slog should hit 550-580 before tea.

Declaring soon would be TERRIBLE.

It's Adelaide, need 600 if possible. At the current rate they can bat through until midway through the final session and hold a 600+ lead. And to be honest if they kept batting it wouldn't be a problem. If history repeats it will be a road for the best part of 4 days then really start to play tricks.
