f**king CA, honestly...

This is pretty much my whole beef with CA right now, not so much that we're losing, it happens, but that CA isn't even trying to address the problem at its source.
The few form batsmen in the shield weren't even given a look in.

Losing sucks but it should spur us on to lift our game, instead we seem to have the team stuck permanently in reverse gear.
Of course if Labuschagne plays in Sydney and has great game, I'll be happy for him. For the selectors though, I'd consider it one bullet dodged, with more to come.

Yep. They're obsessed with an 'all rounder'. No matter how average.
Sure Burns ain't the next Ponting or even Hussey, but he's a solid performer who can score runs and hang in.

Difference in this test was the Indians (Pujara and Kohli especially) knuckled down and played proper test innings, and while Cummins was great the Indian attack is outbowling you... just hard test cricket while you try and flog your way out of it

To me you’ve found your all rounder. Finally. He just so happens to be a bowling all rounder. For some reason CA selectors have a hard on for batting all rounders. But in Cummins they have their man. I think Paine has done enough at 7 as well. That middle order is fairly good, Darsh aside. The top order with Fatty Funch and Darsh Sr are where the problems are.

The way I see it, you have two genuine options. Strengthen the batting by picking the best in form state bat (imo Burns), and bat Paine at 7, and Cummins 8, or, pick a second spinner (a specialist though, and move Paine and Cummins up one. Either way you have balance.

Bits and pieces cricketers are not the consistent option. Lasagnascar did nothing in the UAE or in the shield to justify selection at all. And the Funch problem still remains.
