Finch did ok in the UAE and only played one shield game.

Burns hasn't scored a century this season.

Marsh scored 151 against Qld and can bowl and was selected as the mythical allrounder.

One area that people don't want to think about is Paine only averaged in the mid twenties (without even a half century) while Carey averages 70+.

Seems we've a Mike Brearley in the team.
Burns made 96 on a Gabba green top against Victoria where he outbatted Finch, Harris and Handscomb. Do those 4 runs really matter? I guess they do seeing as selectors don’t watch shield matches.
He was also smashing his way toward a 100 on 80not out in another game before the game was called as there was no chance of a result.
It’s not as if if he only just been getting to 50 and throwing his wicket away all season.

Since the beginning of last season Burns has made 1200ish runs at 52. Averaging a cruisy 180 in Qld Premier Grade this season too.

Might be along the lines what Twizzle said earlier about Burn, out of favour with selectors cause of some sort of attitude. Wade in sublime form and wont get a look in.

Seems a pattern of picking people other than form, or should I say "rather" than form.

Combination of gut feeling and "being great around the team" may have a lot to do with it

Carn Aussies, don’t give em bragging rights and taint your unbeaten home record.

If India’s going to win a series on your soil it should be against quality, not plod.

Greg Chappell - supposed legend and alleged wrecker of Australian cricket.

Justin Langer - an interview full of words with no meaning. As usual.

Won’t be watching Fox whilst Warne is spinning his sarcastic rubbish re Handscomb. He is right though, Handscomb shouldn’t be there.

Labusagna is apparently going to bat at 3 during this Test:

Recalled batsman dropped in the fire

Marnus Labuschagne will bat at first drop after being recalled to the Australian XI.

The Queensland batsmen was added to the Australian squad after the defeat in Melbourne and was identified as the man to replace under-fire Aaron Finch.

Aussie coach Justin Langer told Fox Sports the 24-year-old — who made 81 runs in four innings against Pakistan in Dubai at number six — would bat at three.

“He’s got a really sound technique so hopefully he can spend a lot of time in the middle,” Langer said.

Former Aussie quick Brendon Julian was shocked by the news. “I thought Shaun Marsh would bat three,” Julian told Fox Sports.

It likely means Usman Khawaja will open alongside Marcus Harris.

Peter Handscomb is also tipped for a recall at the expense of Mitch Marsh despite having his technique put under the microscope after failures in Adelaide and Perth which saw him dropped.

“It’s a very interesting selection to have Handscomb back, I’m very surprised at that,” Shane Warne said. “I don’t think it’s fair on him — putting him out there when he’s not ready.”
