Something has utterly failed if these mentalists are the best batsmen available. Say kohli and pujara were out for india they would not be this embarrassing at home

Yeah perhaps, I guess I am (maybe wrongly) comparing to the Clarkes and Husseys of the past who'd almost never make a c**k up like that.

Yeah we have to expect less from blokes averaging sub-40s....actually Junior probably said it what I thought a little bit better with regard to that shot. Attention to detail. It's shitty luck to the extent that he got it on the toe and it went straight to the bowler, and it's not great attention to detail from Head.

He got to the ball on the full and sort of looked like he thought that was the whole point of the shot.

So at tea Australia need 224 to avoid batting again; probably moot as I imagine Kohli will give his bowlers a rest.

India could have been forced to push for a result if Australia got themselves into day four, doesn't look very likely now.

It’s depressing watching these brainless plodders from the T20 generation trying to come to terms with Test Cricket.
Even more depressing that they are being picked ahead of genuine long form batsmen in Renshaw, Burns and Patterson.

Truly baffling have been the selections of Finch, Lasagne, Handscomb, MMarsh (continually), and Head.

It. Makes. No. Sense.

Langer and the selectors need to be dropped in the middle of the Indian Ocean with lead weights for arm bands.

The situation is that dire.

Solid rant by Geoff Lawson in the Fairfax press today and spot on too...

love this piece

Justin Langer needs to realise that he is not now running his personal empire in a small pond. His primary job is as the batting advisor – the area in which he built a reputation as a player. Psycho babble and "they’re all good blokes" has become as ineffective as it has become self-delusional.

Savage and yet 100% accurate.

The lack of forward planning for the Ashes - forgetting for a moment picking your best team to win this series - has been atrocious.

The Renshaw case is the biggest black mark. I know he's in poor form now but he must have been mentally crushed after the way he's been treated.

He was on fire in England - ENGLAND! You know, where the next Ashes are in 6 months - and yet he was overlooked in the UAE for... Aaron mutherf**kin' Finch!

And now Renshaw has gone off the boil when he should have been tuning up for the Ashes.

Meanwhile Finch has been every bit the embarrassing Test opener any serious cricket fan knew he would be.

Or am I being too harsh on the state of affairs? Afterall, criticism burns happiness, doesn't in JL?

Anyone else think an Ad showing one the players bidding over $1.5M on a house, is hardly endearing them to the general public.

If JL is happy then he should be immediately sacked. f**k burning happiness or whatever hippy shit he thinks.

Renshaw and Burns have been treated appallingly, and he has publicly backed that treatment and backed straight up failures like Finch
