Congrats England. Too good. Well played. Andrew Strauss is a deserving player of the series, well done sir. Matt Prior wouldn't be too far behind either.

two Saffers

Aussies played better and were robbed by rain in two tests

the stats don't lie

I think it was Tommy Smith or JJ that said after the first couple of tests these two sides are average test nations and that anyone can win this series. How right that was, In this instance it was England.

England had the balls to drop Bopara for this test, when they could easily have persisted with him. It paid huge dividends.

Congratulations on Freddy going out a winner and a great career for the poms.

Though we lost the ashes, give me test cricket any day of the week played between two sides that actually want to play it and steeped in tradition

I agree with all of that. There is nothing in world sport like Test cricket (I have little interest in one-dayers and absolutely no interest in twenty20 cricket) and no rivalry quite like Australia and England. I absolutely loathe losing to them, it hurts, but it will make winning the Ashes back in 15 months all the more sweeter.

LOL We had a 120 run first innings lead over you at Edgbaston when the rain took its toll. Only when a draw was inevitable did you pile on a few runs.

But apparently you were robbed. Because being 120 runs behind after the first dig is a position of strength, isn't it?

:sarcasm:

As Roebuck points out in the SMH today - 3/5 tests you had poor first innings, and the Poms had three tremendous spells where they put you to the sword...

I thought it was a very interesting series... the way for the next few years, a bunch of pretty decent and pretty even test nations, with home advantage counting for plenty

Damn i love a good test series. However i'm very Gen Y in the sense that it JUST shades ODIs for me, and sh*ts all over T20s.
